After a washed out Day 3, Australia will need plenty to go right to keep their unbeaten streak going against South Africa at the SCG. Join The Roar for live scores from 10am (AEDT).
With Usman Khawaja unbeaten on 195 not out, Pat Cummins has a decision to make. Does he allow the veteran a chance to reach his maiden Test double century, and risk eating into valuable overs, or does he declare overnight and put the team over the individual?
In either case, the Proteas will be aiming for a draw here, with the Aussies’ imposing 4/475 too much for them to realistically do much with. Can a brittle batting line-up stave off the hosts and salvage some pride from the wreckage of a disappointing tour?

I've explained that.

So its not his role to take wickets - so why is he in the team?
Geoff from Bruce Stadium
Roar Rookie
There is a reason he hasn't bowled 22 overs - Cummins could see it was a waste of time bowling him when he wanted to take wickets

Agar has shown his limitations in red ball cricket - as you have in your analysis - you have to face up to the fact that Agar is simply not Test quality

Just spotted that typo - about 6 hours later!

Ground Hog Day syndrome :stoked:

If Cummins had the final say he made a terrible mistake bowling Agar in front of Boland based on Boland up staging Hazlewood. In turn that scenario must have riled Cummins inner demons. Thus Agar played instead.

Different bowlers, different roles. They should have played ahead of Renshaw.

Oh yeah, I remember that now. Thanks for the correction

and then it came, the next over. should have been caught at deep square and then dropped at mid-wicket. maybe give up statsguru for a bit or just watch rather than cut and paste, just for a change?

big whoop. 20 over old ball on a second day deadish wicket jeez the Agar anti-ism on here makes me wants to pick him. why so much hate or derision and supercilious instinctive "criticism"? it's pretty vomit-inducing

The weak as pi.s selector’s should have tapped Warner on the shoulder & said ‘Your Done Son” after the MCG 100th Test.A more balanced team at the SCG with Renshaw opening with his QLD mate & playing either Boland or the young tear away Morris or both & not playing Agar.

no it's where you can be struck - outside vs in line

are you and Pierro gonna go for 100 times making this "point" today? seriously, they gave Agar 7 overs. just when he started to beat the bat they took him off. They gave Lyon 18 more overs for 1 more wicket.

7 overs. beat the bat 3 times. Lyon bowls 25 overs. 1 wicket. Tonked for 3 6's. if we have 3 bowlers it will be by choice

Agree Pierro should have given Smith a few overs rather than Waterboy

Morris or Boland could have got 2 or 3 wickets and we are closer to victory then. swepson may have got one or two more . Lyon gets carted at some grounds but is amazing at most Aussie grounds just not scg

crazy stuff swepson would have been better option but of course Morris or Boland the key ommissions . complete blunder as renshaw didn't even open which is the reason he could come in to side .

65 off 23 overs is "disappointing", how? He has bowled beautifully.
