The BBL continues with the Hobart Hurricanes welcoming the Melbourne Renegades to Blundstone Arena on Christmas Eve. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 2:45pm (AEDT).
This game has the potential to be sensational viewing, and that simply stems from the fact both sides desperately need a win before Christmas pops around.
After two games the Hurricanes sit 1-1. Hobart were poor against the Melbourne Stars on the weekend, defeated in Moe by 52 runs.
The Stars set the Hurricanes 164 runs to win. Riley Meredith was impressive, claiming 3-27 off four overs, but he was the only Hurricane who could make an impact with the ball.
When it came to the chase, Hobart were dismissed for 111. Spinner Clive Rose top-scored with 32 not out.
The Hurricanes have two big squad inclusions in James Faulkner and George Bailey for the clash against the Renegades.
As for the reigning champions, they are yet to claim a victory after two matches.
The Renegades are coming off a tough 11-run loss against the Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium.
The Scorchers blasted 196 off 20 overs. Kane Richardson was the pick of the Renegades bowlers, finishing with 4-22 off four overs.
The Renegades provided a solid chase, as Beau Webster (67 not out) and Shaun Marsh (55) both compiled half-centuries.
However, there is no denying any team would be disappointed making 185 in 20 overs and not claiming victory. The Renegades simply did not bowl well enough.
Defending a title is difficult in any sport, and the Renegades are getting a taste of what that is like early on in the new BBL season.
The Renegades have included Marcus Harris and Jake Fraser-McGurk in the squad for the clash against Hobart.
Prediction
Despite how poor the Hurricanes were against the Stars the other day, I am backing them in to claim a victory against the Renegades.
Playing at home has always given Hobart a huge advantage.

It's funny seeing the Renegades haven't necessarily played poorly so far, either...perhaps just sloppy at crucial times
