The Sydney Sixers host the Adelaide Strikers at the SCG, with the Strikers desperately trying to keep their finals hopes alive. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7pm (AEDT).
We’re getting close to the business end of the season and it’s now or never for a few sides – including the Strikers.
They are on eight points from ten games and, with just eight more points available to them in their four remaining games, they need just about all of them and other teams to slip up for them to stand a chance of retaining their title.
While the Strikers came into the season with a lot of people backing them to challenge for the trophy, they’ve really struggled to repeat the form of last year.
They won the 2017-18 title off the back of consistent performances from much of their team. There might not have been too many absolute stars within their XI, but plenty of the squad played to a high standard throughout the whole season and they became very hard to beat.
This year, despite Colin Ingram and Rashid Khan’s respective efforts with bat and ball, the Strikers have scored far too few runs and their bowling has just not troubled other sides.
Their current form summarises this with just one win from their previous five outings and that run includes some big losses.
The Sixers, however, are in a great position to secure another finals slot. They are in third right now and, with a win tonight against the Strikers, they should be safe.
Interestingly, the Sixers have found the consistency the Strikers have lacked – especially when it comes to runs scored.
Nobody in their team is in the top ten for runs scored this season but, as a team, they’ve scored more than any other.
When it comes to the ball, their economy hasn’t been great but they have been able to take a lot of wickets, which have really ruined opponent’s batting performances.
Steve O’Keefe has definitely been the highlight with his 16 wickets and has been well backed up by Sean Abbott (also with 16) and English import Tom Curran (15).
Prediction
It’s hard to see anything else but another Sixers win. They are at home and have the bowlers to cause the Strikers batting line up some real issues.
Sixers to win.

Another one-sided match in front of a meagre crowd. The esteemed James Sutherland extended the BBL beyond school holidays on the basis that The Golden Goose would continue to lay Golden Eggs. Pick the odd man out. CLUE: One of these is not an incompetent CEO: Bill Pulver, Raelene Castle, James Sutherland,David Gallop, Todd Greenburg, Donald Duck.

Sixers win by 8 wickets That was a very good performance by the Sydney Sixers - their bowlers did what they've done all season and took lots of wickets and then the batsmen came out and played with both power and control. Daniel Hughes looked very impressive - some of his shots were just pure class that would have looked very at home in the middle of a Test match. For the Strikers they are pretty much done for this season. I think they can still technically make the finals but if they play like this there is no way at all they are going to get anywhere close. That's all from the SCG after an entertaining and very quick match with the Sixers rolling on.

Oh wow that was almost the most incredible run out from Ben Laughlin - he ran to field the ball of his own bowling as it ran into the on side. He dived and in the same motion flicked it back towards the non striker's end and if he'd hit then it could have been close!! Sixers Over – 10.0 Score 2-82 Target - 125 Runs needed - 43
