The Sydney Sixers return home to the SCG to take on the Brisbane Heat in what will be the third match of the competition for both sides. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:10pm (AEDT).
After an impressive first-up win against Perth, the Sixers slumped to an incredibly disappointing 25-run defeat at the hands of Hobart in Alice Springs, where they failed to reach a target of just 130 set by the Hurricanes in the first innings.
The Heat meanwhile are winless so far in BBL09, having lost to the Melbourne Stars in the opening match of the competition and the Sydney Thunder on Friday night.
The Heat will certainly be desperate to turn it around against a Sixers side which showed plenty of frailty at the top of the batting order against the Hurricanes in the Northern Territory.
Unfortunately for Chris Lynn and his men, history has not been kind to them where the Sixers are involved. The Sixers have won their last five straight against the Heat, their only slip-up in their ten total clashes coming way back in January 2016.
The Heat need a big improvement from their captain Lynn if they are to trouble the Sixers. Known for his flamboyant batting style and big hitting, the big Queenslander has been below his best so far in BBL09, scoring just six runs against the Stars and nine runs against the Thunder. Simply put, the Heat won’t win this if Lynn doesn’t get amongst the runs.
For Sixers fans, they’ll want to see more out of Jordan Silk. He dug in and stood his ground and stayed in for a long time when other batsmen were falling over around him against the Hurricanes. But he failed to keep the strike moving throughout his innings, and couldn’t hit boundaries when his side needed them most.
He’ll need to increase his intent to score rather than simply occupy the crease if the Sixers are to have a chance.

Exactly mate i think the one area of concern is having late fire power with Maxwell. Cant just rely on Maxwell to finish an innings.

Lynn would definitely not look out of place in the national T20 team. The difficulty is there's just so much competition for spots.

Match Report The Brisbane Heat have defeated the Sydney Sixers at the SCG by 48 runs, winning their first match of the season off the back of a magnificent captain's knock by Chris Lynn who hit a massive 94 off just 35 balls, including four fours and 11 sixes. Lynn was on the cusp of setting a new record for fastest BBL century - currently held by former Scorchers and Strikers batsman Craig Simmons who smashed 102 off 41 deliveries back in January 2014 - before he was caught out by Sean Abbott off the bowling of Ben Manenti after attempting to hit one too many sixes. It was a disappointing end for Lynn, who himself admitted he would have loved to reach triple figures in the BBL for a second time. But his 94 runs along with a useful 60 off 39 from former test opener Matt Renshaw set the Heat up beautifully with a big total of 209 to defend. The Sixers were up against it from the get go during their run chase. James Vince was the pick of the batsmen, scoring 39 off 27 before being caught out by Sam Heazlett off the bowling of Mitchell Swepson. Opener Daniel Hughes was clean bowled by part-time off-spinner Renshaw in the second over of the innings after scoring 8 off five, while his opening partner Josh Philippe struggled to hit boundaries, scoring 15 off 23 hitting just one four with a strike rate of 65.22. The Sixers finished their innings at 7/161 - 48 runs short of the target - after contributions from Moises Henriques (20), Jordan Silk (14), Tom Curran (9) and Hayden Kerr (15), with Sean Abbott (22) and Ben Dwarshuis (12) the not out batsmen. Dwarshuis cuts that wide of off stump. Ball speeds towards the boundary rope, cut off well by Renshaw. 2 runs. That's all she wrote for the Sixers. Finally they're put out of their misery, the Heat winning by 48 runs in what was an absolutely dominant display with both bat and ball. Match report to come. 7/161

Four Another thick edge from Abbott. Sails past Chris Lynn at short third man who's too busy talking to the Fox Cricket commentators to dive for the catch. Four runs. 6/131

Dot ball from the free hit. Sixers now need 24.25 per over to win. Is there a mercy rule in T20 cricket? There should be for situations like this. 6/113 After 16 overs

No Ball Another short one from Prestwidge. What's he thinking? Surely he goes away from that tactic after already giving one away this over. Abbott still manages to salvage a single. There'll be a free hit to come. 6/113
