The BBL continues tonight when the Sydney Thunder take on the Perth Scorchers at Manuka Oval in Canberra. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match starting from 7:15pm (AEDT).

It’s still very early days in this competition but both teams will be keen to get a win to stay in touch with the competition leaders.

The Sydney Thunder got their first win of the season against the Brisbane Heat in remarkable circumstances. After being 3-22 and chasing 179 for the win, Daniel Sams went completely troppo, smashing 65 not out off 25 balls. Granted, the Heat’s bowlers couldn’t execute their plans, but this was an onslaught that no-one saw coming.

The Thunder’s big three of Usman Khawaja, Alex Hales and Callum Ferguson haven’t really hit their straps as yet. It will be only a matter of time before they do.

On the bowling side, the Thunder do look a little thin and will be keen for Kiwi Adam Milne to play as soon as possible. They have found a potential star, though, in Tanveer Sangha. At only 19, the young leg spinner looks a very good prospect.

The Scorchers are still searching for their first win, but they were probably on top of the Melbourne Stars before rain intervened in Launceston. However, Adam Zampa was missing for the Stars that night, so drawing a form line is difficult.

However, imports Colin Munro and Joe Clarke were impressive, as was Ashton Turner. Mitchell Marsh is due.

The Scorchers do have one of the better bowling attacks, featuring Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye and former Thunder spinner Fawad Ahmed.

Prediction
This one is a toss of the coin. The Scorchers will be desperate for a win and I think they just line-up a little stronger across the park. They will win in a tight one.

Scorchers by ten runs or two wickets.

The DRS, or lack of DRS, is also going to be a talking point out of this game as that not out call on Khawaja was really poor. It didn't really impact the result but we probably do need to see it introduced

The Sydney Thunder have made it 2 wins in a row after an unbeaten 61 from Callum Ferguson saw them home. Ollie Davies, on debut, and Ben Cutting played important cameos. The Thunder picked up all 4 points on offer whilst the Scorchers are still searching for their first win.
