A finals spot is on the line when the Sydney Thunder host the Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Showground Stadium on Sunday. Join The Roar for all the action with live scores and a blog of the match from 2:45pm (AEDT).
After a loss to the Hobart Hurricanes on Friday evening, the Thunder must now win on Sunday to secure a spot in the finals series.
Another brilliant batting effort by Alex Hales was not enough in the 185-run chase, as the Thunder were bowled out for just 128.
In the second game of Friday’s double-header, Perth lost to the Adelaide Strikers by 16 runs, unable to chase the 181-run total on a great deck. Liam Livingstone was on fire again with 79 runs from 54 deliveries, however no other Scorcher put more than 20 runs on the board.
Sydney have kept the same 13-man squad from the loss to the Hurricanes.
The Perth Scorchers have made one change to their side ahead of this game. South African Morne Morkel replaces Englishman Chris Jordan, who departs for national duties.
The sides met just last week in Perth. The Scorchers were too good that night, chasing down 154 runs to win by eight wickets.
Alex Hales muscled an impressive 85 from 59 deliveries to help Sydney put 153 runs on the board, but openers Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone destroyed the total in 15 overs.
Prediction
Playing at home and requiring a win to continue their season, the Thunder will keep it together for a sixth victory this season and scrape into finals.
Sydney Thunder to win.

Thunder got it done in the end despite Richardson best efforts. The sooner he’s back in Australian colours the better. It will be interesting to see what the Scorchers do with Turner of they get through. He’s been a quality player for a long time but is that out of touch at the moment he’s a liability with the bat.

Thunder win by 7 wickets with 2 balls to spare Chris Morris was the hero for the Thunder at the end there, though it was the effort of Alex Hales earlier in the chase that put them in a great position and earned him player of the match. The Perth Scorchers posted a 99 run total in 15 overs, before rain stopped the match for an hour. Bancroft and David were just getting busy at the crease, but 99 was all the travelling side would score. After the delay, Sydney were chasing a revised total of 96 runs from 12 overs under the DLS method. Alex Hales got the Thunder off to a cracking start with 47 from 27 deliveries, however as wickets fell the run rate pushed out. Requiring 12 from the final over, Ferguson took a couple and then gave Morris strike with a single. Morris went bang, hitting a 6 and a 4 to seal victory for the Thunder. Scorchers 5/99 Thunder 3/97 DLS method win by 7 wickets

Nervous wait now, both these teams rely on results tonight and tomorrow for their. spots in the finals. If the Heat and Hurricanes both lose, the ladder stays as it is. However, a win for either side - or both - could see the Thunder or the Scorchers miss out on a place in the top five. Scorchers 5/99 from 15 overs Thunder 3/97 from 11.4 (DLS method)

Hilarious from the commentators: Who’s your money on? Well the first two balls of this over from Kelly tell me that the Scorchers will do this. A six and four later the Thunder win with two balls to spare..
