These were by far the longest and heaviest punishments ever handed down for ball tampering in modern Cricket. Up until then the worst that had been handed out were loss of match payments. What did Ambrose want? Life bans. They've done the time and now have the opportunity to if deemed worthy continue their international careers. If others have been given that right then so should they.
