The Toorak Handicap is run over the famous mile with A$500,000 on the line and a Group One title. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 3:45pm (AEDT).
With 18 runners lining up in the Toorak, get ready for some push and shove at Caulfield.
Jungle Cat comes off a Randwick win and looks to be in the top three of four for this race quite comfortably.
One of its key challengers will be the consistent Hartnell. Rarely out of the money James Cummings’ champ had a last start win in the Epsom that tells every one all they need to know.
There is also some better value further down the field with Waging War and Muraaqeb not without some hope.
If the decent gates they have drawn play some role in their ability to access an early position in the race, both could feature in the finish.
Land of Plenty looks a likely third in the race after having no luck in recent starts and now fourth up in this preparation, should be just about as fit as he will get.
There are significant whispers for I Am a Star with Dwayne Dunn on board and a recent victory at Moonee valley caught the eye.
The odds will be juicy for the mare despite the poor barrier and many will throw a little her way in the hope of an upset.
Prediction
Both Hartnell and Jungle Cat carry significant weight in comparison to the others and will be relying on their class to get the job done.
Something with a light weight will be flashing home. Working out which one it will be is the toughest thing in this Toorak.

Land of Plenty has won the 2018 Toorak Handicap In a race than the money suggested would be a tight affair with decent odds available to just about all runners, the actual event played out differently. As some of the more outside chances took up the speed, the favourite waited patiently, jockeying their way through the field, hoping for the run they needed. Favourite Land of Plenty found the dream run as jockey Damien Lane spotted a channel and the race was done and dusted not long after the turn. It was a long and sustained run that put paid to the hopes of Siege of Quebec and Hartnell with Shillelagh running fourth despite never really being in the picture down the straight. Final results 1/ Land of Plenty 2/ Hartnell 3/ Siege of Quebec 4/ Shillelagh Thanks for being on board for the race. In around ten minutes the Everest will be run and won. Hartnell came home well for second and Siege of Quebec battled on for third. Bit neither were a threat to the winner.

Everybody has called this an open race and with a favourite at around 5/1 it appears to be going to start that way.

I Am a Star has been scratched everyone. Sorry about that, I had it down in my notes as a rough chance.

I am a Star might have to fight a poor barrier and Noire is positioned well to surprise a few in this race.
