From my viewing it was pretty clear that his hand was nowhere near the fend. It was all forearm. It was the forearm that slipped up to make contact with the throat. Plenty of high tackles are being scrutinised but in this instance it was not the trackler that that endangered the opposition

Your title for the video is wrong. Where in that press conference did Cheika slam the refs?

Fair enough mate. The little one should be your priority.

That's also not entirely correct. If it's with a high degree of danger it is. The ruling said it didn't meet the guidelines for a high degree of danger, but then decided it was a high degree of danger anyway.

I get the tongue in cheek but I feel that Poite refrained from cards with both teams and just awarded penalties

Yet that's not what he was penalised for and the officials agreed that he did not do that. He fended with the hand, and was penalised for that hand slipping up and making contact high. Again, why is any high contact from the tackler not scrutinised?

To be fair I didn't see the tackle or hear much about the hearing. I'm trying to juggle a one year old and the rugby so unfortunately having to be somewhat selective. I know he escaped sanction and was the only one so far?? But that's my limit sorry

You can't lead or fend with the forearm or elbow. Penalty. It's made worse by Kerevi making contact to the throat/head with the well publicised crack down on contact to the head

Failure to give Hooper a card for his late shoulder charge on Biggar?

Johnny its an average.......If you watch 100 games....see this happen once.....replay it 1000 times...then on Average you have seen it 10 times per game.....

As a FORMER PLAYER ....When did he play? 1975? Maybe Cheika should have looked to see if any laws have changed since he was a player.....I bet he didnt tho.....lol...

"If there is contact then by the letter of the law it’s a 6 week entry point." @Kwikrs - I'd be interested to hear what you thought of Piers Francis decision? Nigel Hampton QC being consistent again?

First thought was that was forward, but after seeing replay from the side it was fine. Would have called that a tough call if it was pulled up.

The curtain is drawing to a close. Nothing he can do about it, win or lose, it is over for Cheika. Strange , it is now you see players like Toomua n DHP starting to shine, players who have been played out of position or left to sit on the bench . The Wallabies actually played some decent rugby in the second half. The Poms in the playoffs will be a big ask . Hopefully, Cheika will let players like DHP, Toomua, White get the start they deserve....all so late, 4 years actually....players currently overseas hopefully will see the light when the new coaches take over n Oz rugby can start again.

Dingo was constantly undermined by a bunch of prima donna players and an administration too gutless to pull them into line. Difference between them and the Crusaders understood the need to sometimes JFDI.

"Happens 10 times in every game" Not in the games that I watch. And I watch all of 'em :silly:

Redsfan1, have to agree mate. For a country that can put out a high volume of pretty good players, the standard of our referees is appalling.

Obviously, most other rugby followers agree with you, SO why are you the Australian Rugby coach. You need to go to League where this type of controversay is the norm.

"As a former player, im embarrassed" You know what is really embarrassing? Our national coach carrying on every time we lose like a spoilt brat! Blame the refs, or "cheating" opposition, or (former attack coach) Larkham, but never blame yourself. Carry on like a pork chop in the coaches box during the game, throwing hands in the air whenever a call goes against him,,,, Looks like an absolute chook, which would be funny, except it's in front of the world media..... And then we have our "fans with microphones" (Aust Rugby commentators) following suit. Ref bashing, and questioning EVERY decision (but trying to sound unbiased). Or their commentary on each game - massively favoring the Wallabies. Guys, listen to the overseas commentators, particular the English lads. Insightful, objective and informative. Not, instead, listening about what the Wallabies need to do to win (at every play) Yes, im embarrassed!
