Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory will be going head to head in a thrilling clash at Dolphin Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, with the tie kicking off at 5:00pm (AEDT).

Brisbane Roar have won 13 times they have faced off compared to Perth Glory’s ten, but haven’t beat Perth since April 2018, with Perth winning three of their five previous clashes.

But Brisbane Roar are in with a chance. They have been in stunning form in recent weeks, losing just one of their last eight games and winning five along the way.

Brisbane have been boosted by the signings of Corey Brown and Scott McDonald in the summer transfer window. McDonald in particular has played a key role in their recent success.

McDonald is back in the side after missing last week’s clash against Western United due to a contract agreement with the Melbourne side but will be back and in full fitness for this fixture that is vital to Brisbane’s finals push this season.

Brisbane have netted only 19 goals in 17 games, but have conceded the third fewest goals in the league with just 21.

They currently sit sixth on the table with 25 points to their name, four above Western United, who are in seventh place.

Their solid, low defensive line will be key to this clash, and Robbie Fowler will most likely play five at the back again for this clash.

Perth Glory have also been in great form in recent weeks and are unbeaten in their past nine A-League games, netting seven wins and two draws during that period.

They currently sit third on the A-League ladder, one point behind second-placed Melbourne City, but City have played two more games than Perth. City have a bye this weekend, which means a Perth win would see them jump into second place on the table.

They have scored the third most goals in the league with 31 and have conceded the second least with 16, which means they are statistically a better side than Brisbane Roar.

Prediction
Both teams have been in stunning form over the past month or two, and that makes this an extremely hard game to predict, but I think the quality of Perth will edge Brisbane, with the final score being 2-1 to Glory.

Fair enough result despite Roar lacking Glory's quality. Roar are coming along nicely, but still quite far to go. Not boring enough I guess, for those Roar knockers.

Match Review: Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory have finished all square in a 1-1 draw at Dolphin Stadium, which sees Perth leap into second place on the ladder. Perth dominated early on, keeping the ball well and moving Brisbane dangerously from side to side, but neither team was able to create many chances inside the first half an hour. In the twentieth minute, Scott McDonald was brought down by Ivan Franjic inside the box and the referee awarded a clear penalty, but replays showed that McDonald was offside and the decision was overturned. Perth got a deserved lead in the thirty-second minute after Diego Castro found Bruno Fornaroli inside the box. Fornaroli twisted and turned away from multiple Brisbane defenders before unleashing a deflected yet unstoppable shot into the top right-hand corner. Although the final shot was deflected, it was a beautiful goal as it was an opportunity that Fornaroli made for himself. Both teams struggled to create further opportunities and Perth went into the break with a one-goal advantage. Brisbane came out of the second half roaring and immediately looked likely to find an equaliser Aaron Amadi-Holloway. Amadi-Holloway took a beautiful touch inside the box following a great cross from Corey Brown, but his shot was just over the bar. Amadi-Holloway came on at half time for Jacob Pepper, and immediately supplied a level of athleticism that Brisbane was missing up front in the first half. A big chance that came back to bite Perth Glory was when Diego Castro looped a beautiful through ball in behind Brisbane’s defence, finding Chianese who couldn’t beat Jamie Young in a one v one situation. Brisbane then netted an equaliser just two minutes later, after a beautiful corner from Jay O’Shea found the head of Macauley Gillesphey, who looped his shot towards the far post. Brisbane Roar next face Melbourne City in a tricky game away from home, while Perth Glory will go up against Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium. Final score: Brisbane Roar 1, Perth Glory 1

That was seriously a great game to watch. Even though it finished 1-1, both teams threw everything at it and the crowd getting involved towards the end was sensational. Exactly what the competition needed, one of the best matches this season so far.
