Perth Glory welcome Melbourne Victory to HBF Park on Saturday evening in Round 23 of the 2018-19 A-League season. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 10pm (AEDT).
As the A-League creeps into April, Perth Glory have one hand on the Premiers Plate. There is little Melbourne Victory can do about that now, but a rematch in the Grand Final is a distinct possibility.
For tonight, Melbourne can only try and take a smidgen of gloss off what has been a terrific first season in Western Australia for Tony Popovic.
The former Western Sydney Wanderers boss looks set to guide Perth to their first major silverware since their heady NSL days.
Before all that though, this match, preemptively dubbed, ‘Game of the Season’ (and why not) will supplement our Saturday evening.
Of course, this clash has the prickly undertone of East vs West. A sour hint of Besart Berisha.
But lets sit back, relax, and just enjoy the majestic artistry of Diego Castro and Keisuke Honda.
What’s that saying about fine wine?
Prediction
Which Melbourne Victory team will turn up this week? They have been so up and down recently, it is hard to know. I do think this will be a very entertaining match with plenty of goals.

Great crowd, fabulous atmosphere, woeful referee he was literally on the same plane as Victory, bit critical of Andy Keogh coming on so late. Go Glory!!!!

I feel soiled after watching that cacophony of chaos. All the work the club has put in on and off the field to get a crowd size like we used to get when Stange was coaching and Shaun Evans gives a performance that in any other job would ensure he never gets another paycheck again. If Chris Nikou wants to know why football is dying in Australia all he needs to do is get a copy of this game.

What a ridiculous game. I'm very proud of our people getting behind our team and getting nearly 18,000. Then the referee decides to give Melbourne Victory every decision. I sit in the bay just in front of the shed. Plenty of swearing and destruction but probably the best atmosphere I've seen in a Glory game in a long time.

So, it's the stars of Melbourne Victory that shine the brightest on a wonderful night of A-League football. A big crowd here witnessed a great game, full of drama and incident. Well played both teams. Next up for Melbourne Victory a trip to Sydney FC next Saturday evening. Perth Glory will travel to Central Coast Mariners in Round 24. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Two set pieces win it for Melbourne Victory. A beautiful Ola Toivonen free kick in the first half, and a Keisuke Honda penalty in the second. Perth Glory had plenty of goal-scoring opportunities but failed to take any. The Victory players celebrate with the away fans in the corner.

90+6' Perth won't give up but they are beaten now. Kilkenny fires a shot at goal but it is easily saved by Thomas.

90+4' Final knockings of the match now, and Victory will become only the second team to win here this season. The other was Sydney FC.

90' Thomas Deng has come on for Melbourne Victory and he is first to boot away another cross from Glory. No way past for the home side this evening. Muscat's team have been solid as a rock. Perth Glory 0 – 2 Melbourne Victory

88' Victory sub, Elvis Kamsoba, tests Liam Reddy with a low shot after great hold up play from Troisi. Time is running out now for Glory. Perth Glory 0 – 2 Melbourne Victory

86' Niedermeier is down for Victory, and his injury is wasting precious seconds for his team.

84' Glory have another corner flicked away from danger. Tony Popovic’s side boast a league-high 47 goals, but they simply cannot find one tonight.

Ten minutes left in an enthralling football match here at HBF Park. 0-2 the score. Has that Honda penalty finished Perth off? The Japanese international has chipped in with seven goals for Victory now in his maiden campaign in Australia.

80' Victory are defending resolutely and will know they can put this to bed with one quick counter. Glory still can't find a goal. . Perth Glory 0 – 2 Melbourne Victory

Wow. And that should've been a 2nd yellow too. Glory put out big push to get a big crowd and the ref turns up an absolute shocker.

76' Castro has been heavily involved in this second half. The playmaker wins another free kick for Perth. Moments later he wins a corner. And then takes it himself. He's like a 21 year-old out there.

Well, I can't imagine referee Shaun Evans will receive many Easter eggs from Perth this year. Glory feel they should have had a penalty of their own after keeper Lawrence Thomas over aggressively swiped at a cross. Still time for a comeback though. Perth Glory 0 – 2 Melbourne Victory
