A Sunday A-League triple header kicks off with the Sydney Derby, as the Western Sydney Wanderers look to upset crosstown rivals Sydney FC. Follow along with live scores on The Roar from 4:05pm (AEDT).

The two-time reigning champs appear to be timing their run perfectly heading into the finals. They won’t take the Premier’s Plate, but a second-placed finish would see favourites Melbourne City looking nervously over their shoulders.

However, they were toppled 3-2 by the Wanderers in their last match just three weeks ago, two goals inside the first 20 minutes stunning the A-League’s stingiest defence. They’ll be determined to be a tougher nut to crack this time around.

By virtue of that surprise result, the Wanderers remain in finals contention. However, sitting seventh with the red-hot Glory equal on points right behind them, they can ill afford even a single slip-up in the run home.

While not impossible, their final three matches after battling the Sky Blues are against the Phoenix, the Roar and Adelaide United, none of which loom as easy wins. They haven’t lost a Sydney Derby since December 2018, with three wins and three draws coming since; a continuation of that trend would keep their finals destiny in their own hands.

No football should ever be played at the SCG. In addition to the poor pitch, spectators are too far away. Would be better to watch it on TV.
