It’s a quick turnaround from Round 12 to 13, as Western Sydney Wanderers host Brisbane Roar at Bankwest Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:30pm (AEDT).

Both teams have only amassed four points from their last five matches to sit seventh and tenth on the table respectively.

Western Sydney faced late drama to hold on to a 3-2 win against Adelaide United last time out. Nico Muller scored two goals while Mohammed Adam grabbed one.

The Roar, meanwhile, relied on some Bradden Inman brilliance to scrape a point away to Newcastle in a 1-1 draw.

Brisbane’s attack has been misfiring somewhat, with main striker Roy O’Donovan relegated to the bench for the match against the Jets. Young Mirza Muratovic was entrusted with his first A-League start in place of O’Donovan, alongside Aaron Amadi-Holloway.

The Olyroos qualifying tournament has hit both sides, with the Wanderers losing Keanu Baccus and Tass Mourdoukoutas, while Brisbane are without Aiden O’Neill and Connor O’Toole.

The Olyroos’ unavailability starts this round and they will remain out for most – if not all – of January.

The Wanderers also lose Pirmin Schwegler to suspension, however Jordan O’Doherty and Bruce Kamau return from injury, with Noah Padgen and Dean Pelenakos promoted from the Y-League squad.

Brisbane have brought in Jai Ingham and Jake McGing – who played in the Y-League last round – as well as Rahmat Akbari. The

two Olyroos come out of the squad along with Jordan Courtney-Perkins, who has picked up a knee injury. Debutant Muratovic has retained his place in the side.

Prediction

Neither side is in great shape and both managers are under increasing pressure.

Western Sydney, without both Baccus and Schwegler, are bare in midfield, but do Brisbane have the power to exploit?

From what they have shown so far this season, probably not.

Western Sydney 1 – 0 Brisbane

You make it seem as though the injury to Ziegler was the decisive factor, which is not a fair assessment of the game.

Match Review: Brisbane take themselves up the table a spot after a come from behind win against WSW. The match started very well for WSW with a well worked move down the right side of the pitch resulting in a Mitchell Duke goal inside 5 minutes. From there momentum slowly transferred towards Brisbane who equalised in the 20th minute when Scott Neville rose unmarked to head Jay O’Shea’s corner in. Aaron Amadi-Holloway had hurt his quad early in the first half and pushed through the pain but succumbed to it just before half time. Daniel Bowles then went down just after half time - needing to be replaced. Roy O’Donovan was lucky to stay on the pitch after a swinging elbow connected with Patrick Ziegler, splitting the WSW midfielder’s lip. O’Donovan received a yellow card, while Ziegler was sent to the bench to be bandaged up. While WSW were down to 10 men, Brisbane took the lead through Bradden Inman. Inman played a neat 1-2 pass with Mirza Muratovic before pulling the trigger on a low shot from just outside the area. From there, WSW had a few half chances but Brisbane’s resolute defending saw that the score stayed 2-1 in their favour. Brisbane are now 9th on the table, while WSW stay 7th.
