Meet 'Tuba Guy': Fans incensed at Fox Sports' latest howler in W-League coverage

By The Roar / Editor

A W-League match between Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory featured another major broadcasting glitch from Fox Sports.

Briefly in the first half, the feed cut out and was replaced by a man – reportedly one of the broadcaster’s employees attempting to fix an issue with the coverage.

The incident is the latest in a series of ugly howlers from the major broadcaster that have raised the ire of football fans. Technical problems include graphics malfunctions during games and coverage cutting out at important times.

In 2019 Foxtel was handed a $10 million grant from the federal government to go towards their coverage of women’s sport.

The issues have come just months out from the end of Fox Sports’ long-term contract with Football Australia to broadcast A-League and W-League matches.
