Australia’s ATP Cup continues this morning, when the host nation will take on Great Britain in the quarter-finals at Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of each match from 10:00am (AEDT).

Australia have come through the ATP Cup’s group stage undefeated, a brilliant result bearing in mind the strength of the countries in Group F.

While the 9-0 record appears on paper as a comprehensive clean sweep of the rubbers, it has not been easy for the team. Some long three-setters in the singles could have gone either way. The endurance and persistence of the Aussies has been impressive.

Australia has also managed to rest – through ‘injury’ – all three singles options during the week, so the players are feeling fresh and ready to fire in the knockout stage.

Great Britain move through after topping Group C, responding to its loss to Bulgaria on Friday evening with victories against Belgium on Sunday and Moldova on Tuesday.

The team, who were in Perth for the group stage, includes singles players Daniel Evans (No. 42) and Cameron Norrie (No. 53). Alternate singles option James Ward, ranked 320, has not yet been called upon.

Evans impressively defeated the 11th-ranked David Goffin to level Great Britain’s tie with Belgium on Sunday, which they went on to win in the doubles.

The duo of Joe Salisbury and Jamie Murray might have lost to Bulgaria, but they’ve looked brilliant in the ties since. Both players rank inside the top 25 for doubles and will be a challenge for the Australians.

Captain Lleyton Hewitt has kept things calm on the bench, while the team’s tight bond and supportive attitude have been widely praised.

This uplifting environment, along with the home crowd support, will be crucial on Thursday morning.

Prediction
Australia head into this match-up warm favourites. The singles players are firing and the doubles duo are excitingly becoming more comfortable in the pairing.

The doubles team for Great Britain is its strength, though, and if it comes down to the deciding tie, Joe Salisbury and Jamie Murray will have the upper hand.

Before it comes to that, Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur should secure a semi-final berth for Australia.

Australia 2-1

Australia move through to the semi-finals after a huge day of tennis at Ken Rosewall Arena, Sydney. Nick Kyrgios was clearly the superior player on court against Cameron Norrie of Great Britain. The Aussie's serving wasn't "amazing" today, well at least it didn't feel that way for Kyrgios, but he came up with a dominant victory against the lower ranked Brit. He broke Norrie's serve twice in both sets, Kyrgios' ground strokes running him off the court. Daniel Evans and Alex de Minaur faced off in the second singles rubber. Playing in front of his home crowd de Minaur had a battle on his hands, the lower ranked Evans playing a similar style to The Australian. It was a tight start, the first set going to a tie break, won comfortably by the Brit. In the second, de Minaur got a break and managed to keep it despite his serving fluctuating. Through the deciding set de Minaur broke, before Evans broke back - the set producing several opportunities for both players. In the tie-break though, Evans got the better of a seemingly exhausted de Minaur and took the win. Great Britain were still a chance. The Brit's started warm favourites in the doubles, though were a little thrown by the brave decision of Australian captain Lleyton Hewitt to change up the doubles combination. Singles players Kyrgios and de Minaur returned to the court, the good mates playing together in the deciding rubber. Australia got an early break in the opening set, though as Great Britain settled they took control of proceedings. They broke back on de Minaur's serve, then broke it again to take the advantage and first set. In the second, Australia got an early break and were able to keep it despite some tense moments throughout the set. The deciding match tie-break had a little bit of everything! Australia got the first mini-break, though lost it just before match point came up. From 9-all it was up and down, with several match points saved. Finally, at 17-16, Kyrgios served in and the return went long, the match sealed at 18-16. The celebrations were big, Australia thrilled to be through to the final four. They face either Spain or Belgium on Saturday evening, the match up decided tomorrow evening. Australia defeat Great Britain 2-1 Tie breakdown: Kyrgios defeated Norrie 6-2, 6-2 de Minaur lost to Evans 6-7, 6-4, 6-7 de Minaur/Kyrgios defeated Salisbury/Murray 3-6, 6-3, 18-16

Unbelievable stuff there in the doubles, de Minaur - who has spent five hours on court today - helped by his mate Nick Kyrgios, have got Australia the win over Great Britain to reach the semi-finals of the inaugural ATP cup. Great Britain played brilliantly, it came down to a single point and unfortunately for them, they fell short. Daniel Evans won in the middle of the day, but the doubles just could not get it done against the surprising pair of Kyrgios and de Minaur. Nail-biting stuff at the end of the doubles, the match tie-break went to 18-16 and had the crowd on the edge of their seats all afternoon!
