'Show some respect': Medvedev gets fed up with the Aussie crowd in tense interview

By The Roar / Editor

Daniil Medvedev had to endure the ‘suii’s – a Cristiano Ronaldo celebration popularised on social media of late – and perhaps a few boos from the Rod Laver Arena crowd. While the Russian was able to overcome it during the match, he wasn’t too impressed as the noise carried on through his on-court interview.

The mob sounds like Collingwood supporters clearing their throats and stretching their vocal chords preparatory to the AFL season. Kicking back getting souped up on overpriced grog, happily displaying their deserved low station in life is quite intelligent ... clever, eh?

It was home crowd cheering - I didn't think it was any worse than any other tournament. Davis Cup is where it gets really bad - this was a picnic in comparison to some Davis Cup games I've seen. What did he expect playing against the home town favourite - half the crowd cheering for him?

The crowd was pretty disrespectful through the whole game, Medvedev had every right to call it out and good on him for doing so.
