The destination of the A-League Premiership Plate and a spot in the lucrative Asian Champions League is up for grabs today when Sydney FC host the Melbourne Victory at the Sydney Football Stadium in the final game of the A-League regular season

Sydney FC must win to finish top of the A-League ladder, and will be buoyed by facing an injury depleted Victory, for whom a draw will be enough to secure their second Premiership in a row.

Be sure to join your fellow Roarers from 5pm (AEST) Sunday and comment on the action as the match unfolds.

It promises to be fitting climax to the A-League’s regular season.

. . . or the 737 heading out of Tulamarine back to Sydney - the home of the A-League Premership Plate.

That would be small consolidation if we see Kevin Muscat celebrating on grand final day.

Sydney definitely has the wood on Melbourne this season. The numbers tell the story. Sydney is a team that has only averaged something like 1.2 goals per game, but in their two wins against Melbourne, they scored 5-zip. Similarly, Melbourne has scored at a touch under 2 goals per game this year (the most prolific in the A-League), yet in three games against Sydney, has failed to score on each occasion. The explanation is simple, Lavicka's patient, tight, counter-attacking game plan works a treat against teams who are naturally quite attacking (which Melbourne is). Getting two or three big names will help Melbourne. but more importantly, Melbourne must circumvent the current formula, otherwise, it's clear which way the two legged contest will go.

I love finals football, it's all fun & exciting, it's cut-throat. But in the sport I played in my youth & the sport (in Australia) I followed in my youth, it's always been first past the post is regarded as the champions (best team of the year).

AS I always said the best thing coming out of Melbourne was the Hume headed towards the Harbour City...

Not as Marquee in Sydney. If he wants to stay & get reduced wages under the cap, keep him, if not, thanks for yesterday, what a big match player, but we want more from a marquee. I do apologise for booing him. He told me to shove yesterday & happy to for the great man.

Just a comment on John Aloisi...congratulations to a guy who has gone from Hero to Zero and back to Hero. The guy deserves huge plaudits for his resurgence in form. He has been booed off the SFS on more than one occassion and really demonstrated to the watching audience his true quality. His run shot and goal reminded (as mentioned in the commentary) of his goal vs Japan in Kaiserslautern. Will SFC keep him or will he return to AU?

MVDave, Just got home from the CRSL and I wouldn't worry too much about the finals----clearly the weekend's results all point to a Sydneee and the Golden Boys Grand final in Sydney. However, Lavicka is now negotiating with Miron for a loan deal on Culina as a replacement for Corica if the GCU don't beat the Jets next Saturday night's sudden death final----before the 'Scottish One' steps in again. :D Both teams played below par except for those 2 well taken brilliant goals for Sydneee. The Melb Vic twin Jackals both shackled and well contained. Aloisi is on fire and had another outstanding game up front.. ;) ~~~~~~ AF

Well done Sydenee, no doubt better on the day (and terrific crowd) but there is still the little matter of some finals games...look forward to welcoming SFC to ES on Thursday.
