The Roar's AFL grand final re-match live blog

By The Roar / Editor

Collingwood’s Darren jolly and St Kilda’s Jason Blake Contest the ruck during the 2010 Toyota AFL Grand Final between the Collingwood Magpies and the St Kilda Saints at the MCG, Melbourne.

Here we go again. Collingwood and St Kilda are today set to do battle in just the third replay in grand final history. Join other Roar readers here from the opening bounce at 2.30pm to discuss all the action.

While last week’s game ended with scores level at 68 apiece, there will definitely be a result today as the AFL have committed to extra time in the (unlikely) event we get another draw.

That means that come tonight, Collingwood will have won their first premiership since 1990 or St Kilda will have broken their massive 44-year drought.

Both sides will be looking to atone for their mistakes last week, and there will also be a lot riding on players backing up from strong performances.

Can Nathan Brown contain Nick Riewoldt for a second time? Will Lenny Hayes and Brendon Goddard outclass Dane Swan and Scott Pendlebury again? Can Nick Dal Santo have a big game this time? Will the Pies’ goal kicking be an issue again?

All these questions and the biggest one of all, that of who will be the 2010 AFL premiers, will be answered today.

Pies have their 15th premiership (at three quarter time) - fair play to them - Saints have to ensure they are not embarassed further in this last quarter, because deep down they will know it's gone.

Thats the problem with AFL, it's just after half time and the game is done as a contest and you have to wait another hour until it's over.

Only once in history has a side come back from a bigger half time deficit than 27 points - Carlton in 1970.

Goddard doing it all (again). He might win a Norm Smith in a losing side?

HALF TIME: Collingwood 6.5 (41) St Kilda 1.8 (14) With only one goal to half time, the Saints are in some trouble. In an odd twist, inaccuracy has been a huge issue for the Saints, yet not the Pies. Collingwood kicked further away in the second quarter and are looking good. However, given their lead is 27 points -- only three more than what it was at HT last week -- nothing can be ruled out. In another ironic twist, Luke Ball has been great for the Pies. And Goddard, absolutely dominant last week and in the first qtr this week, added another 10 disposals in the second. Coll disposal leaders: Ball, Sidebottom 14, Pendlebury 13 Coll goals: Macaffer 2, Didak, Jolly, Goldsack, Johnson St K disposal leaders: Goddard 19, Dal Santo 16, Gwilt 15 St Kil goals: Goddard

Half time. Pies up by 27 pts, and appear to have plenty in reserve. The lead was 24 points last week. Pies have turned up ready to play, and we know they are probably a bit better off physically. Hard to see the Saints bridging that gap from here. They must at least match their score from last week to win it, and I think they will fall short.

This game is starting to take on the exact same pattern as last week - if anything - St Kilda have made their move earlier.

Saints get their first goal. Goddard won a free kick in contest with Maxwell. Doesn't miss. This quarter almost a reverse of the first -- Saints are the ones who should be damaging the scoreboard more! 10mins left 2nd qtr. Coll 26 St K 13.
