Put life on hold, the Ashes are finally here!

By SamFinn / Roar Rookie

It’s hard to believe that, finally, the 2010/11 Ashes series is upon us. After much hype and trash talk from both sides, it’s time to let the leather and the willow do the talking (figuratively, of course).

Join in the live Ashes blog below to share your thoughts on today’s play.

There are so many sub-plots to this battle of the giants, and those sub-plots make this series one of the most looked forward to in Ashes history.

Australia’s spin dilemma has been solved for now: no Hauritz, no loss in my opinion. However, it will be very interesting to see how Doherty goes in the intense heat of an ashes battle, but I’m sure he will hold up.

A wildcard is always helpful.

On a lighter note, away from the battleground comes a story of which I proud to tell. You see, my name is Sam Finn, and i am a tall fast bowler with a unique action. Touring for the English this year is Steven Finn, a tall fast bowler with a unique action.

The similarities struck me too, and even though I’m a proud Aussie, Finn will be hoping Finn goes well this series, just for the novelty factor. I often tell my clubmates that I’m not playing this week due to my commitments with the English team.

I’ve been told I need new jokes.

For the record, and to join the thousands of punters around the world, my Ashes predictions are as follows:
– Australia 3-1 England.
– Man of the series: Johnson (20 wickets and 300 runs).
– Clarke won’t play all five Tests, Khawaja will play and made a ton on debut.

I’ve never been a good tipster, but I think at least one of these will happen.

Australia in a very good position to take this test match out, Strauss 3rd ball duck set the tone for the day and Siddle was just sensational!

Yeah Jason but those NSW commentators wouldn't have kept Hauritz - they'd have put O'Keefe in. Or Smith.

Xavier Doherty justifies all the NSW commentators querying of him being in the side. That should have been swallowed.

Trollope would surely be delighted to know that Finns are still having such an impact on the world in the 21st century.
