Welcome to The Roar’s live blog of tonight’s Twenty20 cricket match between Australia and England at the Adelaide Oval. In a rematch of the 2010 World Twenty20 final (how’s that for a mouthful), Australia will be hoping the switch to the shortest form of the game provides a change of fortunes.
Only Mitchell Johnson, Shane Watson and Steve Smith have been named in tonight’s squad from the Australian Test side which lost the Ashes 3-1 to England.
With Michael Clarke announcing his retirement from Twenty20 cricket following the Sydney Test match, Cameron White will captain the Australian side tonight, with Tasmanian Tim Paine his deputy, while England will be skippered by Paul Collingwood.
Australia will be hoping the inclusion of speedsters Shaun Tait and Brett Lee will trouble the English side, who enter tonight’s match on a seven game winning streak in Twenty20 international matches.
Australia squad: Cameron White (captain), Tim Paine (vice-captain), Aaron Finch, David Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Stephen O’Keefe, James Pattinson, Steve Smith, Shaun Tait, David Warner, Shane Watson
England squad: Paul Collingwood (captain), Ian Bell, Tim Bresnan, Steven Davies, Steve Finn, Michael Lumb, Eoin Morgan, Kevin Pietersen, Ajmal Shahzad, Graeme Swann, James Tredwell, Chris Tremlett, Jonathan Trott, Chris Woakes, Luke Wright, Michael Yardy
Final teams to be announced.

Marketing Best 11? Interesting thought.

You pick Brett Lee, you get what you deserve and that was spanked. Australia has the talent, just that we have a bunch of imbeciles selecting the teams. Change that and the results will turn around soon enough. They are attempting to pick a Marketing Best 11.

What a match! Tough result for Australia. No doubt they reflect on their innings and feel they didn't push hard enough in the middle overs. Finishing their 20 overs with only 4 wickets down, both Cameron White and David Hussey didn't capitalise on the great start by Shane Watson. England got off to a great start and were well ahead of the required run rate early, and managed to hang on despite some Shane Watson heroics with the ball.

Australian players are buzzing about in the field, lots of energy, they know that the game is there for the taking. 2 overs left, 15 runs required, 2 wickets in hand Brett Lee to bowl 19th over, surely Watson to bowl the final over?

WICKET! Morgan OUT for 43 runs off 33 balls, caught Hussey, bowled Watson. Australia still in with a hope. 28 runs required off of 28 balls, 4 wickets in hand.

Australia needs Morgan out, 43 runs at better than a run a ball. Morgan/Bresnan partnership 22 runs off 13 balls. Australia's losing form against the Old Enemy this Summer looks set to continue in the shortest form of the game.

One of the better Mexican Wave efforts I've seen, even the Members section getting involved!! Good stuff.
