The Roar Football Weekly: Episode 2 [web-series]

By Matt Bungard / Roar Guru

The Roar Football Weekly is into its second week, and after the positive response from Roarers, Matt and Alex have a fresh week of football news and opinion to dissect – with improvements!

For new viewers, the show will focus mainly on A-League and Premier League football, but will take the time to look into other major events going on in the footballing world.

As always, we are welcoming any feedback (good or bad), and as always on The Roar, discussion is encouraged.

This week, the boys discuss a rare win for Gold Coast United, Melbourne Victory’s return to form and one of the best games of the season taking place at Hunter Stadium.

They look forward to an epic encounter on Sunday afternoon between Newcastle and Sydney as well as the all the Premiership plate implications; as well as the last(?) ever home game at Skilled Park.

They also look at how the A-League needs to come to terms with its role as a selling league, and talk about a few youngsters that could move overseas in the near future.

Over in Europe, Manchester United are rolling towards another title, Chelsea complete an epic comeback in the Champions League as Lionel Messi bags another five goals. We look ahead to a crunch round of midweek EPL fixtures, as well as the Asian Champions League.

Feel free to leave all your questions, or any other things you think are interesting, below this post and the boys will be sure to tackle it on next week’s show.

I've noticed something and last week as well Alex looks like a dead ringer for Javier Mascherano .

You're right, Matt, I misread that as being Wellington time. So make the Wellington game kick off at 4pm Eastern Seaboard time (6pm Wellington time) and then the swap makes sense!

yeh it is true Matt is a naturally loud talker. Will definitely work on making my voice clearer for next week. Cheers!

Another good show, well done guys. Matt - your voice seems to be coming through clearer than Alex's, that's either the positioning of the mikes, or Alex has a naturally soft voice. It might be because Alex would sometimes lean back, and perhaps that brings him further away from the mike, might be worth checking out for next time. Let me say - you guys do a great job sustaining a discussion for nearly 30 min, it's not an easy thing to do (at least it's harder than many would suspect), so you've definitely made a great start on this.

I'm not sure how swapping the SFC and BR kick-off times would solve the problem as those games aren't on at the same time. The Mariners are at 2pm, SFC/NJ is at 4 and GC/BR is at 6:30 EDT.

The A-League have made a serious mistake in scheduling. The Mariners and Roar games need to be played at the same time. Not hard to do, just swap the kick off times for the Gold Coast-Brisbane and Sydney-Newcastle games. Nice job, guys, and Matt, fellow Leeds tragic! Keep daring to dream...

Nice one guys. Just one thing - the MVFC coach's name is pronounced MA GIL TON ... or, as JM says, think of how you pronounce the "g" in "magic"!

I sort of hope that the Mariners draw or lose just so GCU's final game means something. Oh, and also because I hate the Mariners. But mainly that first thing.

Would it be feasible to get a Socceroos top up for players who are in the A-League, or would this just slow down the development of the countries mid level representatives? Top stuff boys.

Nice work guys, Hernandez's strike was a peach, the Newcastle vs Brisbane game was the best match of the round . If the Gold Coast win this weekend it's all over for Brisbane amazing .
