The Roar's first ever meet up!

By The Roar / Editor

We’re having the first ever Roar meet-up at the Harlequin Inn in Pyrmont directly before the Wallabies vs All Blacks Bledisloe Cup match on Saturday afternoon, 18th August.

The event will be MC’d by the all-talented Geoff Lemon, who will be keeping the event lively.

Argentinian legend Topo Rodriguez will be attending to give his thoughts on Argentina’s inclusion in The Rugby Championship and to discuss his book on scrums.

We will also have a panel discussing the upcoming Wallabies vs All Black match with Roar experts and prominent Roar of the Crowd writers (gurus), as well as answering questions and talking all things rugby and sport.

This is an opportunity to put a face to the name, meet up with your fellow Roarers, and have a beer (or three) with The Roar’s editors and writing team, including rugby gurus, Spiro Zavos and Brett McKay, all-rounder Ryan O’Connell as well as funnyman Chris Chard.

Here’s the important bit: this is a free event!. Even better, food, beer provided by ARVO and drinks will be provided. You just have to be a Roarer to get in the door.

There’s more information here. Leave any questions you have below or contact us directly.

Also – let us know what you’d like to see on the day. This is our first event, so all ideas welcomed.

Hope to see you there in full voice.

Gutted i'll be missing the lazy eye & the one more question combo. Hope the night goes well but alas, it is too long a long trip from Sweden, even for free booze & I get the chance to hear the incoherent ramblings of Johnno in person. Personally I think it's a great chance for Roarers to solve the mystery of Brett McKay. Or more accurately, does he look like the wise, warm, thoughtful, clooney-greying, slick journo his picture at the top of his articles show him to be, or the crazy eyed, recently incarcerated, never-to-get-a-baby-sitting-gig nutter that his comments picture suggests? I imagine those at the event might see both, as one is Brett pre-8 schooners, and the other post. It is my favourite roar writers mystery though and hope someone shines some light on this at some point. Ava goodin.

You're supposed to be the funny guy? We had a funny guy with us in Korea. Tail gunner. They blew his brains out all over the Pacific.

Ill get there for this one. If it's really "the ultimate football code" as talking topic things could start heated and end up teary. Lets hope.

Im going to try too attend i have a few things on over that week, may be going on a weekends holidays break in the next 3 weeks sorting some dates out but if not i am defiantly going to attend it sounds like it will be a lot of fun. The debate over about what is the no 1 football code might get a bit heated lol, but will be all in good fun. By the way everyone tomorrow night apparently on fox there is this thing at 8:30pm on 1 of the fox sports channels called state of the game. Meaning the state of rugby union probably on the rugby club, but i think John O'Neil will be on talking about this stuff. And today i read SANZAR is open to expansion when the tv deal ends in 2015 sounds interesting . http://www.espnscrum.com/super-rugby-2012/rugby/story/168167.html Will be a fun night I hope to attend.
