Reports of the end of Robbie Deans’ tenure with the Wallabies appear to be incorrect, with the Australian Rugby Union confirming Tuesday night that Deans remains as coach.
The Roar received reports that Deans, who is contracted by the ARU until the end 2013, would be leaving for a new role in New Zealand.
Speculation around Deans not seeing out his contract intensified on Tuesday following Saturday night’s Bledisloe Cup clash at Eden Park in which the Wallabies were hammered 22-0, the 14th time in 17 matches that Deans has overseen a Wallabies defeat at the hands of the All Blacks.
The ARU’s Media Manager, Matt McIlraith, contacted The Roar to categorically denied these reports, putting to bed rumours of Deans leaving before the end of the 2012 Rugby Championship.
The Wallabies next face the Springboks in Perth, on September 8th at Patersons Stadium.

Aussie rugby has destroyed itself by insisting on having 5 teams in a conference system for S15 and no 2nd tier comp a la Currie Cup or ITM Cup. You can put who you like in the job and they will fail with the 'talent' they have. Ewan MacKenzie talks a GREAT game in his newspaper columns but lets see how he goes in real life. Not too great with the Reds this year eh?! There is simply no depth in Australian rugby.

Hansen will be tough to shift over the next two RWC cycles, and there are already enough ITM coaches around who will make it hard for Deans to get a coaching gig in NZ. The UK is another matter altogether. I don't think any coach worth his salt will touch the Wallabies job under the current structures, especially the apparent suffocating weight of player adversarial attitudes.

Where there is smoke there's fire - heard that Deans couldn't speak to the players and JON had to step in and blast them after the match. Sounds like things are way off track. Hope I am wrong but doesn't sound good and the young bloke need to be told in no uncertain terms what the go is...

If Cheika is the hard ass he is made out to be and the rumors of carry on by players also true he might be the man for the job

Good bloke or not, & I'm sure he is, in this cut-throat world of pro sports, the coach is easiest to fire. Good luck to him & we must move on. Now we have about a year to build a credible OZ team before Lions tour Used to losing to NZ, but to not beat best of NH is unthinkable. S T
