All Blacks vs France: Test rugby live scores

By The Roar / Editor

After a scratchy performance at Eden Park last weekend, the All Blacks will be out to step it up when they meet France in Christchurch this evening. We’ll have live scores from 5.35pm AEST.

The ten-point win over the French certainly wasn’t pretty, and while an inspired French effort might have had something to do with it, coach Steve Hansen will be demanding improvement tonight.

Already the All Blacks boss has singled out under-performing backs Israel Dagg and Julian Savea, who through various reasons weren’t at their best last Saturday night.

A repeat performance tonight and the pair might expect to be watching from the sideline in the third Test in New Plymouth next Saturday.

Hansen had named an unchanged starting XV from the one that played in Auckland last week but a hamstring injury to lock Brodie Retallick during the week has forced a swtich.

Jeremy Thrush had been expected to be promoted from the bench, but Crusaders second-rower Sam Whitelock has been named to make an earlier-than-expected return from a finger injury suffered against the Chiefs three weeks ago.

After missing the first Test with injury Piri Weepu and Tony Woodcock both come back into the 22, but Hansen could only find a place on the bench for the pair.

With some of their Top 14 stars traipsing down to New Zealand late after the conclusion of the French domestic season, France were somewhat understrength last weekend, opting to rest those who had been involved in the Top 14 finals series.

Coach Philippe Saint-Andre has re-introduced experienced flyhalf Frederic Michalak and prop Nicolas Mas, while flanker Bernard Le Roux has been called in to make his Test debut for the injured Fulgence Oeudraogo, making four changes overall.

65-Test veteran Michalak has been in and out of the French team in recent years and has played more in the number nine jersey than ten in recent tours, but Saint-Andre appears to have gone with experience in favour of Camille Lopez, who debuted last Saturday night.

France bounced back from their loss to the All Blacks on Saturday night by taking on the Blues in a tour match, which they comfortably won 38-15.

Will the All Blacks take it up another notch after last weekend, or can the French cause an unlikely upset?

Find out from 5.35pm AEST and leave your thoughts in the space below.

Dagg had a good game and I am pleased for him. He along with Cory Jane are my favourite players from NZ.

I agree that he is not an All Black prop, but not so sure that there is anything going on at scrum time that a lot of other test props don't do?

You're trying far too hard to be edgy.

I think the breakdown area needs improvement. We turned it over turn many times in the first half. We are missing a Brad Thorn type player to do the hard yards and clear out opposition players. I think the tight 5 need too work harder as a group too secure our ball. They are all skillful players but i think they are forgetting there core role when on attack, too hit the breakdowns and secure the ball. Rather than wait out in the back line so they can get their hands on the ball.

I was wrong, the game was frustrating, full of infringements, Poite allowed the Scots free reign at the rucks and again we didn't adapt. If the referee isn't doing his job you must take over and do it yourself. We seriously need to smarten up at the breakdown.

Just saw that the highlanders are holding a press conference tomorrow to unveil their new all black playing strip. They have not indicated what brought on the sudden change of colour from the traditional blue and gold, but they did say that Ma'a Nonu will be modeling it.

OK, using that logic the Lions V the Waratahs tonight was between the HSBCs and the HSBCs with the HSBCs winning.

The AIG'S All Blacks. Holding the country on their shoulders, again! It's hard to be such a 'crutch' so well done darkness, the psyche of a rugby nation gets you over the line again.

I think they learned from last week you can't always run it back all the time like ABs sometimes do. .. accurate kicking with good pressure on the receiver playing for territory first can be just as effective...springbok style. ..don't think the french expected that AB approach

Call of the night on Planet-Rugby in the second half - "France hot on attack, All Black looking dangerous here"

Well done ABs great game and still wanting to improve. Amazed that some of the ABs S15 form has been mediocre at best but when they put on the Black Jersey they seem to play out of their skins.

Good post. They were clueless in attack and passage of play leading to the drop goal attempt was one of the most tedious things ive seen in a rugby game.

Not being unduly negative here, but the French are a poor side. No escaping that fact. Last week they slowed down the ruck but when they had possession they had no idea what to do, no patterns, no direction - just a few up and unders. PSA made 2 tactical changes in the 2nd and back row and it affected their dynamic. I think their performance is best summed up by Michalak's attempted drop goal. PSA is a farce. The ABs showed improvement, however. The final 2 tries were pretty spectacular.

The AIG's are the team that have denied the Qantas's the Bledisloe Cup these last ten or so years

good display of NZ rugby, A Smith still off beat with the rest of the crew, needs to step it up. Good game, French are great at the breakdown and really testing the AB forwards but lacking any real ability to complete there phases... As it should be going against the All Blacks, they went out to really make the French work hard for every meter. then Weepu and Ranger came on to ramp up the attack. Far more intelligent rugby by AB. Have to wait and see what else they have up there sleeves.
