West Coast Eagles vs Essendon: AFL live scores, blog

By Brodie / Roar Guru

All eyes will be on Jobe Watson tonight after his stunning admission of doping during the week. Join us here for all the live scores, commentary as Essendon go against the West Coast Eagles from 8.10pm AEST at Patersons Stadium.

As mentioned the turmoil that has been at Essendon this week will mean that the football world will again be looking down on them, with opinions and comments coming from every angle.

The only thing the players will be worried about is beating this weakened Eagles side.

The Eagles during the week lost Scott Selwood, Shannon Hurn and Andrew Embley to extended stints on the sidelines.

The loss of Selwood and Hurn is perhaps that which hurts the most, and they are both major impact players.

The ring of changes will mean it’s time for the likes of Bradd Dalziell, Matt Rosa and Brad Shepherd to step up big time.

The Bombers have dumped their young stud Joe Daniher in favour of their two best ruckman which on the surface looks like a good move against Cox and Nic Nat.

The most startling contrast in this match is the possession useage. Essendon ranks 1st in the competition for disposals and West Coast 16th.

In saying this the Eagles appear to be far superior in the defensive game, averaging 69 tackles to the Bombers’ 60.

The big timber down forward for the Eagles will mean Michael Hurley will head to the back line, thinning out the Dons forward line.

Big games from Davey, Crameri, Bellchambers and Ryder will be key to ensure the Bombers can kick a good enough score. With help from the midfield this should see them over the line.

The Eagles accuracy has cost them numerous games this season and if they don’t kick straight again this week it will be much the same. LeCras and Darling need to step up in that department big time.

With confidence I am going to tip Essendon by 30 points.

And the No. 1 reason why West Coast lost this game: John Worsfold is still the manager. Sack him already!

Get real MArtyn50 Seems to me you can't do anything at the football except sit and clap , you must applaud everything and everyone. No wonder the game is going backwards Good on the crowd for showing how they feel. Are we all just supposed to sit by and just nod at everything going on in the incestuous business of AFL.Get real the public are not stupid and are tired of what is happening,. This will plague Watson his whole career , unfortunately he may not be all at fault but Essendon is and he is the leader and face of the club, and as he admitted participated is a very unsavory situation Maybe we should all sit there like monkeys at each game. The public are treated like fools by the whole AFL competition from the administration to the players. It's about time they started to push back , good on the crowd tonight

FULL TIME WCE: 13.13.91 ESS: 15.8.98 Well, well, well. The comeback kids have done it again in Perth. After being down more then 20 the Bombers have gotton up and won the four points. After being booed all night long by the Eagles crowd Jobe Watson has broken down after the siren and appears to be shedding a tear or two. Watson was so, so pivotal in the final quarter winning various clearances to help propel the Bombers to a win.
