Where does an Aussie sports fan look for enjoyment?

By Sporting Tragic / Roar Pro

It was a tough weekend for Australian sport. Everywhere we looked, Aussies were on the wrong end of the scoreboard.

1) The Wallabies got pumped by the Springboks. Now, if this was in South Africa, I could forgive the altitude issues or whatever.

But this wasn’t. This was in Brisbane and that’s what worries me. We are normally unbeatable at Suncorp Stadium.

Genia and Cooper were back in the halves and so was their combination, along with Folau at the back. All was meant to be great. All wasn’t great.

A poor defensive performance. Woeful in fact. I am questioning now if we can beat the Argies, particularly in Argentina.

2) The Socceroos were beaten 6-0 by the might of Brazil.

Now this was hardly a surprise, but all the same, I think it gives the football loving public something to mull over as we have less than 12 months to the World Cup itself.

We are, in reality, not world class…more like second or third-world class.

3) Vettel beat Webber into pole again in the Formula One.

4) Ash Barty and Casey Dellacqua were knocked over in the final of the US Open Women’s doubles. That said, only in their eight event, the Aussie girls have been runners-up in three of the year’s Grand Slams. Solid effort and hopefully bigger, better things to come in 2014.

Has anyone got some good news stories for me?

All is lost. Not sport, but on the bright side it looks like a good movie. Australian sport is drifting, waiting for a rescue. We need to realise that we can only rescue ourselves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk_R04LfUQU

I guess the election went pretty well for sport, given that the 'Australian Sports Party' is probably going to win a seat.

Freo are my good news story from the weekend...you little beauty! They are my only sporting team that has given me joy, and has significantly cushioned the less than stellar performances of the Force and Wallabies...and Aussie cricket team.

Australian football, mate. They have most of the best athletes in Australia, have the best run comp & we know Aussie rules players are the best in the world because they don't have to play against another country to prove it! :-)

My youngest daughter's U15 soccer team won her Grand Final 2-1 It was a great effort by the girls and was much more exciting that the Wallabies V Springboks or the whatthehellaroos V Brazil

Spending too much money wasting our time on local park sports like AFL and NRL when we should be taking on the world in Football and RU... Don't know what you got till it's gone
