[VIDEO] Brisbane Broncos vs Cronulla Sharks: NRL highlights, scores, blog

By Ryan Selvage / Roar Guru

A Sharks side desperate to avoid further humiliation travels north to Brisbane to take on the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium tonight. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:40pm (AEST).

Having not scored a point since their Round 10 clash with the Wests Tigers, Cronulla will be out to avoid setting an unwanted record of four consecutive defeats to zero.

Despite an otherwise woeful record in 2014, Cronulla will surely fancy their chances tonight, having won on their last two ventures into Brisbane.

Playmaker Jeff Robson looks set to return and will partner Todd Carney in the halves, while Michael Gordon returns to fullback at the expense of young flyer Nathan Gardner.

Jonathan Wright returns to the centres with Blake Ayshford dropped after several poor performances.

While Brisbane are coming off a last start away loss at the hands of the Warriors, they will surely be eager to bounce back in front of a parochial home crowd tonight.

Justin Hodges will again lead out the Broncos, while fellow origin teammate Matt Gillett makes way having sustained a shoulder injury in last week’s defeat.

Brisbane have an obvious strike-power out wide, and will be sure to test out the young Sharks wingers under the high ball.

With both teams boasting strong forward packs, second phase play will be vital as the sides look to make in-roads up the middle. If his mind is on the job, Ben Barba could be in for a big night.

The home side’s skill and class on the flanks, against an inexperienced Cronulla back line, should see them home quite comfortably.

Brisbane by 12.

Can the Sharks salvage some pride or will the Broncos get home in a canter? Join The Roar at 7:40pm AEST for live score updates and debate in our live blog.

Anthony Griffin must be sacked - every game we have lost this season has been as a result of misuse of the bench. Why do you have two props on the bench who play 13 and 7 minutes and a backrower come on at hooker? We were cruising he takes the hooker off (as he did last week and the losses earlier in the season) we lose all momentum and we can't wrestle it back Why take off one of the most important players (granville) for stagg!!!!!!

Well another interesting Weekend of Rugby League has Started & still going Cannot pick a winner these days The unknown is always on the cards. Re the Refs on Friday night , I did not find them the cause of The Broncos lost . Wonder how many more Upsets or the unknown may occur over the rest of the Rugby League Games this weekend. . .

That was absolutely disgraceful by the Broncos. I want my money back for the rest of my season membership. Woeful defence in the second half. Griffin needs to go, so does Hoffman, Maranta and Hala. They offer nothing. It's no good being the best defensive 5/8 if you drop the ball all the time and run it every time and can't pass!!!! Hala should stick to weight lifting. Maranta and Copley need to learn to catch. Griffin needs to learn how to use a bench and pick the 17 best footballers on the Broncos' books. Why would you take Granville off and replace him with a fringe first grader who can't distribute the ball??? And pick a bench with a proper front rower or 2 and a utility who can actually play hooker/ball player.

Well said Edward, Shark's will always be a battle to beat. I've courageously cheered them on from when I first kicked a footy @ 40 yrs ago with no title as of yet. Can't stop believing, they will win if I do. Go the Sharkies knock off the chooks next week.

Could it be one head is better than two? I will just sit back and bask in the glory of the Broncs, feeling the wrath of the much maligned Sharks. They have shown they ,have as much bite as their namesakes, the denizens of the deep. Up ,up Cronulla tra tra la.

My father in law is a sharks supporter and we went to the game. I think it was about 10 or 15 mins into the second half and he wanted to go home so we left.... Then when we were nearly home we heard the result on the radio. He wasn't happy lol

I stayed up and yelled at everyone that looked at the score online then went to bed at halftime leaving me to think they were gonna get flogged. I'm on such a high now, can't sleep!

Not a shark or broncos fan but i can not see what you broncos fans are complaining about. The refs were the same they always are. Perhaps you are too used to listening and believing the Nine commentators! Well done sharkies.

Expand the League to offer another Qld team. Makes complete sense. Now who should it be? Perth? Darwin? PNG? Bring back NSWRL and QRL. Get rid of (rorters)9, and get the Game back on track. State of Origin as it was meant to be not some injury ridden crock to make more money for Eastern Suburbs fat cats. Wally's still a wanker.

I thought Brisbane had claims for a penalty on that one. Was he not taken in the air? (this coming from a Sharks fan)

Well whoever tipped that win give yourself a pat on the back. Currently 0 from 2 this weekend, hopefully it can only get better from here.

The refs gave them field position we just didn't defend it.

For 200 of those minutes they played with their reserve grade side….. tonight they actually did field the majority of their superstars with only Fifita and Morris missing from the best 17. But hey let’s not let facts get in the way of the crying….. Are you related to Oike in anyway? Go the Sharkies :)

I don't blame the refs one bit. I blame my team, can't believe we lost that, it's outright embarrassing. Our defence was disgraceful in the last 20 minutes and Copley cost us the game with his awful drop ball. It was a mistake first grade footballers shouldn't make. With that loss, and our run home, I can't see us playing in the finals now. I feel sorry for Ben Hunt, one of the few Bronco players who put in an effort tonight.

Well as a Broncos fan that was the only highlight of the most forgettable game ive seen the Broncos play in a long time, lets hope that was Griffins last chance and that he will be gone by seasons end. Hoffman can go too. And so can that Jarrod Wallace idiot.
