[VIDEO] Western Bulldogs vs GWS Giants: AFL highlights, scores

By The Roar / Editor

The Western Bulldogs and Greater Western Sydney Giants are playing for nothing by pride when they meet at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:40pm (AEST).

It’s the last game of the 2014 home and away season, and it sees the Giants in a quest to secure their sixth win of the season, while the Bulldogs will be looking to jump Carlton and finish at the top of the bottom crop of teams.

Although they can only finish as high as 13th, the Bulldogs have shown signs of improvement in 2014. Some impressive performances from their emerging stars – most notably Marcus Bontempelli – means that fans have reason to believe that 2015 will bring more success.

The story is somewhat the same for the Giants. Although 2014 has been a frustrating year, as the club has failed to make much of an impact against higher placed sides, a number of future stars have been given a good run this season which should place them well to rise a few more rungs next season.

After starting off in such promising fashion with a win against their cross-town rivals, and premiership favourites the Swans, it was mostly downhill for the competition’s youngest side.

Fielding a depleted side away from home in the final round of the season, that will have zero impact on your ladder position, appears to be a recipe for a tough game for the Giants.

If they can draw some inspiration from their impressive showing against the ‘Pies last round, then the Bulldogs will need to be on top of their game.

However, the home side should be too strong in this one and view it as a good opportunity to give their faithful fans one last reason to cheer in 2014, and a reason to get excited for next season.

Without Ablett, GWS are well ahead, even if GWS are missing 2-3 of our top dozen. With Ablett ? Thats why we play the games.

Giants go into next season pretty much on par with the Suns I reckon.

What a win! Was an unbelievable experience being there to see the Giants break through for their first win at Etihad. They really had to dig deep, but in the end that goal from Devon Smith at the 31 minute mark was enough to get us over the line. With six wins this season, double the combined total of the first two years, there's no doubt the Giants are a team on the way up. Exciting times ahead!

Well done Giants. I've really enjoyed watching them this year. Wouldn't be out of the question to see them make the finals before the Suns.
