The first-four dividend paid $15,381.80 in Victoria, not quite as big as last year’s six-figure amount.
The result was boosted by the run of Who Shot Thebarman who snuck into the placings at longer odds.
The trifecta – Protectionist, Red Cadeaux and Who Shot Thebarman – paid $2173.10, another handy result.
The quinella paid $87.50, while the exacta paid $155.70.
In NSW, the trifecta dividends weren’t much different – paying $2202.40.
But the first-four paid over $3000 more, winners picking up a share of a cool $18,884 for the 5-4-12-24 result.
Queensland also had a strong result, their first-four dividend paying $18,452.80.
The exacta paid around $155 in all three states, while the Protectionist and Red Cadeaux paid around $90 for the quinella.
Protectionist, an $8.60 chance in Victoria, beat home Red Cadeaux at $5.10 a place and Who Shot Thebarman at $3.60 a place.

The first four would have paid much more if Who Shothebarman had run fifth and Willing Foe had been in the top four.
