India vs England: ODI Tri-Series live scores

By The Roar / Editor

Both England and India have started their warm-up to the World Cup with losses. While they will be disappointed, both teams should be happy with the way they fought back from tough positions. Though in England’s case it was a matter of too little, too late with their flurry of wickets at the end of Australia’s chase, they will still think they have plenty of improvement in them after having to rescue both their batting and bowling innings.

India, on the other hand, made a close game of it on Sunday evening, with Australia cruising before finding themselves six down and in a tight spot.

In these conditions, foreign to both sides, it will be a fascinating contest. You would give England the advantage in the quick bowling department, with Stuart Broad and James Anderson set to take the new ball in this match. After Mohammad Shami broke down in the match against Australia, India will need to find a replacement for him with the ball.

India’s spinners should have the advantage, with Axar Patel bowling impressively in Melbourne against Australia, and Ravi Ashwin a constant wicket-taking threat from over and around the wicket.

Where India look to have the tangible advantage. They have genuine match-winners throughout their entire top six, with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni among the finest one day cricketers currently active in the game today.

Add the hitting power Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order, and you have a potent mix.

Whether they will click today is the big question, and will go a long way to determining the outcome of this game.

I feel quite a few players do use strength enhancing substances especially in one day matches, that's why.

No way bcci will return the favour..why do you expect such moral conscience anyway, or was it sarcasm?

Maybe it's just that Warne isn't around during the ODIs apparently while David Lloyd is commentating.. though I will concede it did make Healy and Brayshaw marginally better -- it probably did make Slater better too, but he went from so bad it's funny to so bad it's just sad. Personally I don't completely see why people are so down on ch9, it's no worse than the Sky commentary was during the 2013 Ashes.

Yes, Smith and Kohli are quality but the run fest in the Test series was certainly helped by the concrete roads.

I agree India were helped massively in the test series with garbage lifeless pitches. It is not very fair to poms last year who got bouncy fast pitches every test. Might work with the poms being more reasonable when curating the pitches for the next ashes.

True. In fairness, the later spell from him was good bowling too so perhaps he benefited from some confidence.

I'm sure no one expected them to go out in 2007 in the group stages either, but they did...

Of course they will be. The format lends itself to ensuring the Test nations make the knockouts. From there, it's a lottery. For India, they can be grateful none of the knockouts are in either Brisbane or Perth. The worst scenario would be to face NZ either in Wellington or Auckland.

Gotta say this... but how much more acceptable, even "civilised" do the Channel 9 commentary team seem when Australia isn't playing? They actually discuss cricket without use of hyperbole. Not the old days of Benaud, Lawry, Greig, but something that isn't aural torture.

Maybe so, but they all look the same in the scorebook...:)

This match just underlines why India should be so thankful to CA and the home curators for this summer's Test conditions. Of course now the BCCI will return the favour for Australia's next tour of India and offers up pitches which hinder the home side's spinners.

Three wickets because the Indians are giving them out like candy, not because Finn is bowling well.

Our Blokes got 62 ish at Brissie not so long ago vs the Sris. Although that was a bona fide greenie. Engerland might still have a struggle.
