[VIDEO] Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne City FC highlights: A-League scores, blog

By Isaac Nowroozi / Roar Guru

MATCH RESULT

FULL TIME: Western Sydney Wanderers 3 – 2 Melbourne City FC

It has been a crazy night at Parramatta, but worth the trip for the fans who made it to the game.

A thunderstorm delayed the game by an hour, and at one point lighting even took the lights out.

The players finally made their way onto the pitch, and it was slow start on a wet night by both teams. It was City who dominated the majority of the first half, and found the net via Baharudin to open the scoring.

Wanderers replied in kind, with Poljak finding the net to send the teams into the half at a goal a piece.

A cracking 40 yard free kick from Mooy opened the scoring in the second half, going over all in the box and curling past the keeper.

But the Wanderers would reply again, a penalty against decision against Chapman allowed Juric to finally find that elusive goal, when he fired the ball past an on-from Velaphi from the spot.

Right after, in a moment of madness, Connor Chapman got himself red carded for putting his hands on the referee!

It was all Western Sydney from there, and it was a 92nd minute goal from Nikita Rukavytsya sealed the Wanderers second win this season, and their first win at home.

Melbourne’s top six hopes drastically hurt, as the Wanderers look to climb out of wooden spoon position.

It was a game that everything, but in the end, it’s Western Sydney Wanderers 3, Melbourne City FC 2.

MATCH PREVIEW

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be searching for their second win in what has been a lacklustre 2015 A-League campaign, as they host Melbourne City FC. Join The Roar from 7:30pm (AEDT) for live scores and commentary.

The Wanderers have found themselves in a rut since their Asian Champions League win. However, only three points behind ninth placed Newcastle Jets and with two games in hand, the Wanderers can still play for pride and prove they have fighting spirit.

The Wanderers have a positive record against Melbourne City, having won five of their seven fixtures against them, and only losing one.

Wanderers key man and Socceroo Tomi Juric still believes in his side despite disappointing results, saying the Wanderers deserve better:

“It’s just so disappointing to play good football and dominate big parts of the game then you have a few minutes with a lapse in concentration and you conceded sloppy goals,” he said.

“It’s been the story of our season and it’s just something we have to fix.”

This clash will be the Wanderers’ third match in a week, coming off a disappointing 1-nil loss to Brisbane on the weekend.

Just one point behind the Brisbane Roar on the ladder, a win will for Melbourne City will leapfrog them over the Roar into the top six.

Coming off a string of inconsistent results, the Melbourne-based side will be looking to take advantage of an out-of-form Wanderers side, and close the gap on a poor record against Tony Popovic’s men in the process.

With just a handful of games remaining in the season, time is running out for John van’t Schip’s men if they wish to progress in the competition.

The last time these sides faced off was back in the first day of February, when City secured a thrilling 2-1 win at AAMI Park.

Melbourne City have more to play for, and should get the result again in another close fixture.

Prediction
Western Sydney Wanderers 0 – 1 Melbourne City FC

What's even funnier, SFC fans making comments about the crowd of 7000. Last time they played on a Wednesday night the crowd was exactly half that lol

Probably the most comical game of football I have ever watched. Still laughing. Then I hear the news about Bulut and back to laughing. We might not have many points but we have all the lolz. Started from the bottom now we're here!

JVS should seriously consider his coaching future. Same old same old. Different players, same coach, same results. I see a pattern.
