Scoreline: Sea Eagles 24-22 Storm
Another classic at Brookvale Oval sees Manly prevail 24-22 over Melbourne. The Storm were down 24-6 at halftime but they rallied very well in the second half and it was just a missed conversion from Smith that proved the difference in the end. Manly will get a lot of confidence from this win despite their scoreless second half. Cherry-Evans with a great first half. Stewart with a double. Sea Eagles yet again soaring after a tough week.
It’s been a horror week for the Manly Sea Eagles but they will have to put all the drama aside if they hope to beat rivals the Melbourne Storm at Brookvale Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:30pm AEDT.
The Sea Eagles are in crisis following news that representative halves Daly Cherry-Evans is leaving the club to join the Gold Coast Titans, with Kieran Foran said to be joining the Parramatta Eels.
There is even suggestions that Cherry-Evans could play out the rest of this season with the Gold Coast.
Throw in a heavy defeat to rivals Parramatta and Manly’s run at the premiership is deteriorating quickly.
Despite the club’s issues on and off the field, Manly should still put up a competitive showing against Melbourne at Brookvale Oval.
The Sea Eagles are traditionally very difficult to beat when playing at home and the Storm will have to produce another solid performance to remain undefeated.
The Storm are coming off a scrappy 12-4 victory over the Dragons away from home. Despite being nowhere near their best, Melbourne still got the job done and Craig Bellamy would have been pleased with the way his team defended against St George Illawarra.
Manly are a much better attacking unit than the Dragons but the Storm will fancy their chances of keeping the Sea Eagles at bay, especially with Foran out of the side.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the Sea Eagles cope with the adversity they have experienced so far this year.
Their defence was extremely poor against Parramatta and that shows that attitude and belief are down compared to previous years.
If Storm trio Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater can play the percentages well, their class and experience should lead Melbourne to victory over a Sea Eagles outfit dealing with plenty of problems.
Storm by 6.

Agree... But if Manly can get a trade in I would not be against it. Manly should not give him away.

Not going to get into a sling match as I did not see the whole match but I have talk to a Canterbury Supporter mate I have. He is also a referee. The double movement was technically a double movement. I will explain. 1) Arm holding the ball did hit the ground. 2) A manly player did have a hold of him 3)Whilst there was momentum it was maintained by a second effort by the player pushing off the ground with his legs hence the second effort. The second effort was after his ball carrying arm hit the ground. Unfortunately the moment he pushed off ground with a second effort his goose was cooked. I understand people getting worked up about it but there is no way of knowing whether without this second effort that he would of made it hence "no try". I realise this is technical and unforgiving but that is the rules as they were explained to me.

Hey, it's the 2nd game for gods sake, and the Storm were the better team and should have been awarded the two tries denied us by those cheating, Storm hating NSW refs...you'll change your opinion during the season, and come finals time...mark my words. We'll be there at the business end of the comp!!!

STORM ROBBED YET AGAIN!!!! CRAIG Bellamy is not allowed to say anything. But we can say it – poor and inconsistent officiating on a weekly basis continues to plague the NRL. Not once but twice was Melbourne Storm denied tries that should have been awarded in its 24-22 loss to arch rivals Manly at Brookvale Oval on Saturday night, Already riled by the scheduling of another five-day turnaround for consecutive away games, Storm officials will on Monday ask the head bosses in Sydney for a “please explain.” The NRL will most likely admit to a mistake or two, but little good it will do. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/nrl/nick-smart-says-the-nrl-must-act-on-the-refereeing-inconsistency-that-plagues-rugby-league/story-fnp0lyn2-1227264022719

perhaps shane should return to reffing. On Hayne, parra can't afford to have him back but Manly have plenty to offer him next year. I hear he thinks he's a 5/8.

It was Melbourne win if two of their trays were not wrongly judged.

Precisely and yet, even though a try came from that joke, everyone wants to talk about the "dubious call" from a dodgy bomb. It's great to be a manly fan tonight ... Even better when the side outplayed think they're cheated.

Manly vs Melbourne is the NRL's equivalent of Federer vs Nadal.

I am glad that Des H. isn't the Melbourne coach and the Ref's name wasn't Voldemort. That refereeing display tonight was disgraceful;and I don't follow either team.

You're right, they were pretty unlucky when the ball "bounced of Mateo's head".
