The Championships: Sydney Cup full field and barrier draw

By Tristan Rayner / Editor

This weekend’s 2015 Sydney Cup (3200m) has proven that prize money boosts can bring strong racing back to Sydney, with the best Sydney Cup in decades set to take place on Saturday.

The handicap staying test has attracted the Melbourne Cup trifecta of winner Protectionist, second-placed Red Cadeaux the third placegetter, Who Shot Thebarman. BMW Stakes winner and warm favourite Hartnell is in the field, as well as Hong Kong trainer John Moore’s top stayer Dominant.

Au Revoir finished 8th in the 2014 Melbourne Cup, and will face a weight-turnaround on others from the Melbourne Cup, apart from top-weight Protectionist who is worst off by half a kilogram.

Interesting Hartnell has the same weight as Akzar . What are they going to do with Protectionist if he's beaten in a handicap by Grp 2-3 horses ? ...
