Cats drop Motlop over off-field issue

By News / Wire

Geelong speedster Steven Motlop will miss the Cats’ clash against Fremantle after been stood down by the club over an off-field issue.

Motlop, 24, was arguably Geelong’s best player with 32 possessions in their 62-point loss to Hawthorn on Easter Monday.

But coach Chris Scott told reporters on Thursday that he would not be considered for selection for Sunday’s home match against the Dockers for an unspecified off-field indiscretion.

“We have clear expectations of our players,” Scott said, via the club’s official Twitter account.

“Steve hasn’t been able to meet those on this occasion.”

Let's hand out the hair shirts, chastity belts and self-flaggelating equipment for players should they have any impure thoughts late at night and they can purge themselves through self punishment, before reporting to the commissar back at the club when they attend matins.

News.com.au are reporting he was out drinking three days before the game. Given the way he played, I think the problem is that not enough Cats were on the sauce!
