NOTE:I intentionally select players in any position they have played since I want to showcase which players scored the highest in the round.

It is very close on a number of positions which is great. Also eight of the top ten players are forwards, which is even better.

In some people's opinion some of these players deserve a hypothetical spot but in reality many will not go close. Are some players Test players? Are some players in workable combinations to play Test Rugby? Are some of these players in Chieka's plans? It will be interesting to see which team Chieka picks.

I would like to see that first team get a run in the first rc game. lineout is seems a weakness but im not sure what McMahon is like in lineouts. disappointingly the team will not include 7 or 8 of those guys. thanks for putting this together peter.

It's not just the calling itself, the caller is generally the best reader in defense and strongest jumper in attack. To put it in perspective, if you take Higgs out of the season form team and replace him with Palu, you now have not a single strong lineout jumper in the pack, just a bunch of part-timers. Equate a lineout caller to the difference between having an actual goalkicker and having some some guy who can toe bash it from right in front and get it 50% of the time.

Simmons and Mowen before that and Mumm before that made the Wallabies because they were the line out caller. It is a complex job and yes the team must have one. As a matter of interest Higginbotham makes the teams anyway just ahead of McCalman. Robbie Coleman does NOT have more points than Folau. Folau was moved to the wing. The best players for the season the players are eligible to be moved to any position they have ever played. In the backs Coleman just snuck in ahead of Toomua would was pushed out. Hooper was the 7. But Gill was not far behind him. Now Gill has jumped over him with his great display. Hooper has played 1 less game.

Cheers for that. Couple of minor points, god I hate this "must have a recognised line out caller" rubbish. Surely it is not that hard a job (as a back I'm happy to be corrected). Secondly Im surprised to see Gill in every team. He played fantastically last week but has he been that good overall? Third if robbie coleman is 15 of the round, and has more points that folau in the best overall season, why is he not the fullback in the other 2 teams? Hasn't he played mostly 15 this year?
