[VIDEO] South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Canberra Raiders Highlights: NRL live scores

By The Roar / Editor

The South Sydney Rabbitohs will be looking to return to the winners list when they host the Canberra Raiders at Barlow Park in Cairns to close out Round 8 of the NRL. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:00pm (AEST).

It was a wet and windy loss for the Rabbitohs against the Sharks in Round 7, making it two defeats on the trot for the 2014 premiers after they fell at home against the Cowboys in Round 6.

The Rabbitohs will go into this match unchanged from last week, so the question is simply whether a trip north will help a side, that is struggling to account for injuries, gel and reignite the early season form that had many pegging them as the benchmark in 2015.

The bookies are quite confident the Rabbitohs will bounce back, however we see this match as destined to be closer than $1.20 to $4.00 odds might indicate.

In their Round 20 meeting last season, the Rabbitohs cruised to a 16-point victory – however the Rabbitohs’ lineup today is missing some key cogs that performed strongly in that meeting.

In particular, without Adam Reynolds in the team, a repeat of this performance is difficult to imagine.

The Raiders enter this round in 14th on the ladder, but will take some heart from their win against the Wests Tigers last start.

Following the loss of Dane Tilse (who is heading overseas to play with Hull KR), the Raiders have been forced to make some changes to the front row, moving Shaun Fensom to lock.

Mark Nicholls has also been included on the bench, replacing Luke Bateman.

Join The Roar for live scores of the Rabbitohs vs Raiders from 4:00pm (AEST).

They are playing terrible footy, in the last 2 games the marker defence has been terrible, they have made breaks with no one backing up, against the Raiders the break was made & Clarke died with the ball, he should have passed as Souths had 4 unmarked players with 15 meters to the tryline, just plain dumb footy.

Yeah " doctor who", players like Shannon Boyd are always a worry for a tall player like Inglis to tackle. But it worries me that Inglis is being put into 5/8 and his kicking game is really not up to par and he waists allot of kicks on the 5th tackle. But soon we will have Reynolds back and hopefully Dylan Walker didn't injure himself too badly and he will be back next week. And Souths will be back to full strength, but in saying all this Souths have to really step up and start playing like they did in rounds 1and 2, because the way that they have been playing in the last 2 to 3 rounds they just don't look like they want to win or can win a game. And "James" Souths were also hard done by with a few of the referring decisions, so it all balances out. But I promise you this, that next time that Souths play the Raiders it won't be the same, Souths will smash them and the Sharks and the Eels and the Cowboys. lol GO THE RABBITS

I've got a life "greenhouse disney". I'm not an "overhyped rabbitohs" fan or as you so ineptly put it one of the "delusional the rabbitohs fans really are". If you would read my post(s), I do criticised the Rabbits and I call a spade a spade and called this game that the Rabbits were the worst side. But never mind, you must be a one of them, Souths Sydney haters. One thing that I will tell you is that Souths will come back (like last year) and your comments will just fade into irrelevance. And about Maguire, are you kidding me? He is not overrated, Souths have had allot of injuries and a coach like Maguire is only as good as his players perform and if they don't perform, they don't win matches, simple as that. Just ask Toovey, Hasler and of course the great Bennett when he was at the Knights. I don't think that Maguire as a coach has anything to prove, he has done it all. maybe a back to back as the Rabbits will do this year will be a bonus. lol

I'm a raiders a supporter but if john sutton played this game the rabbitohs would have won easily because his running game would expose the raiders on the edges also his kicking game is very underrated

Fully agree with you, Souths think that they can just run onto the field and win games against these so called or in their imaginary thinking lower sides, they get beaten by sheer determination and better talent of these other sides. Souths have lost 4 of their 5 games and that game against the Bulldogs they should have lost too, so it really should have been 5 loses in a row. I don't know what is going on at Souths? Maybe these players have had too much footy since the GF and they have hit a lull, because after winning the first 3 games and coming into round 4, Souths just didn't look the same and they were losing their determination and that will to win that they always had, especially in the second half. And all this started to happened before Reynolds was injured, so they cannot use Reynolds and/or losing Dylan Walker as an excuse, even though in the Raiders game they lost the game after Dylan Walker went off.

Frankie PN and Shannon Boyd have been beasts for the Raiders in the past two weeks. Throw in the continuing good form of the two hookers Hodgson and Baptiste, along with the strength of Soliola, Vaughan and Papalii up forward and the Raiders are starting to look like a team that has a future.

Pretty silly Jamesb. Cowboys play the Saturday game so their fans can travel and go home on the Sunday. Move it to cairns and they'll end up driving ridiculous distances (if at all). The Cowboys know this which is why they don't take games to Cairns. Next you'll be asking why the NSW Warratahs don't take games to Newcastle. Or why the South Sydney Rabbitohs don't play in South Sydney.

Hey james atleast it didn't affect the result and if jarrod croker kicked straight and the raiders got those two tries could of been 48-22 I wouldn't be surprised if the raiders make the top 4 and challenge for a premiership This season is like 2005 all over again all the bottom sides are beating the top sides If thats the case the rabbitohs and roosters are in danger of missing the finals altogether Teams like eels and raiders can do a fairytale just like the tigers did in 2005

Spoken like a true wherethef you're from. They play in Townsville because it's central to all the bigger towns in North Qld. Play it in Cairns and you're cutting off a lot of supporters as it is then too far to travel. And no I'm not talking about Manly fans here, I'm talking about an 8 hour 1 way trip.

Steveng your just saying that because rabbitohs lost just get a life and go back to your burrow where you belong Raiders won that game fair and square and you rabbitohs never deserve to win The referees were fair tim grant stayed down so what is your problem steveng It shows how overrated coach michael maguire really is and how overhyped the rabbitohs really is and how delusional the rabbitohs fans really are The commentary was actually good It was the first time wally lewis actually wanted raiders to win and andrew johns was unbiased for once Remember the bulldogs game steveng the rabbitohs do not deserve to win that game and the referees were bias towards rabbitohs

The calls were 50/50 at worst. If anything Souths had the run of the green.

The Ch9 commentary is SHOCKING, I had to put it on MUTE, because I just couldn't put up with the ridiculous comments and lack of them. The refereeing decisions were another disappointment in this game and allot of the penalties just went the Raiders way even though the Raiders got away with head highs, when Souths didn't. But in saying all this Souths were shocking and looked like they were doing everything in SLOW MOTION without any enthusiasm or any willingness to win.

A very ordinary performance by the Rabbitohs, they didn't show any enthusiasm and any willingness to turn it on. If they persist in playing like this I cannot see them winning many more matches. The Rabbitohs lack any initiative in attack and they are a lay down miser every time that they play against sides that have a bigger appetite to win. A very disappointing performance even though the Raiders played ordinary and made lots of mistakes.I was that disappointed that I had to turn the TV off with 15 min to go. I am one very disappointed Rabbitohs fan and after seeing some of the lower sides improvements in the comp, the way that the Rabbitohs are going is only backwards and they will end up unable to beat any of them. And Reynolds won't make much of a difference if the Rabbitohs play like they are today, even though they lost Walker (again).
