Meninga pens new deal to remain coach of Queensland

By The Roar / Editor

Mal Meninga will remain at the helm of Queensland for at least another three years after announcing a new deal with the Maroons on Tuesday afternoon.

The announcement was made at the official unveiling of Queensland’s team for the 2015 State of Origin opener, to be held at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday, May 27.

A three-year extension will see Meninga lead Queensland until the end of the 2018 Origin series.

Speculation had been rife that Meninga was potentially in line to replace Tim Sheens as coach of the Kangaroos, however such theories will now be put to bed for at least another few years.

Yeah, I kind of think the same, the quality of players and leaders that's been in the Queensland teams over the last decade has been immense. You could of put a moose in a Queensland sports jacket and sat him in the box and Lockyer, Smith & co. still would have won the eight in a row.

Well as long as he had cam smith and assistants to do the actual coaching then he should go well. Wouldn't key him coach my user 12 team by himself
