Game 1 of the 2015 State of Origin series got underway before a packed house at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
Queensland got off to a strong start with veteran Cooper Cronk running over the first try of the match.
However, the Blues would hit back quickly with a great try thanks to a thrilling run from Josh Dugan and Josh Morris.
NSW would score their second try of the first half shortly after to secure a 10-6 halftime lead.
The visitors would come out fired up in the second half, drawing the scores level at 10-10 after youngster Will Chambers ran over his first Origin try in the corner.
Queensland continued to apply intense pressure for the majority of the second half, however could not break the 10-all deadlock as the game entered the final 10 minutes.
As the final minutes ticked by, the Maroons found themselves with a long shot at a field-goal from a penalty. Johnathan Thurston stepped up to take the kick, which was on-line, but fell agonisingly short.
The miss would not go on to hurt the Maroons though, as Cooper Cronk would find some space shortly after, able to send home a drop-goal to give Queensland the slimmest of leads heading into the final minutes.
NSW managed to apply some late pressure, but the defence of Queensland was steadfast.
Queensland would go on to hold their 1-point lead to take a 1-0 lead in the 2015 State of Origin series as the game heads to the MCG.
Cameron Smith would be named man on the match for Game I.
