Folau to have surgery, out of rugby for four months

By News / Wire

Wallabies fullback Israel Folau is set to undergo surgery and will be out of rugby for a minimum of four months.

The Seven Network is reporting the dual international will have surgery on Tuesday on his troublesome ankle, having carried the injury and playing in pain through much of Australia’s Rugby World Cup campaign.

Folau will have to pull out of a lucrative upcoming stint in Japanese rugby.

And, according to Seven, he will battle to be fit in time for the start of the NSW Waratahs’ 2016 Super Rugby season.

Exactly why he should not have been selected in the final. I don't agree with all of Cheika's selections, but I think his biggest errors were sticking with an injured Folau and an ineffective Matt Giteau.

John....see if you can bend this Guilty of holding a test position in a crucial final, probably at the expense of someone in a better position unencumbered by injuries.... Guilty of dereliction of duties insofar as positional play was concerned As for Rugby Championship.....wasn't a big influence this year....NSW lost badly. John Eales medal.....wot?? Tackles, assists, busts.....so what? There is still no RWC mug in the cupboard!

Overthehill, see if you can bend these... Only fullback to play every minute of every match of Super Rugby. Led the entire competition in total run metres gained, tackles busted, linebreaks and offloads. Led all fullbacks in runs and linebreaks assists. Finished equal top in tries and try assists. Rugby Championships - topped all players in carries and defenders beaten, 2nd of all players in metres and offloads, 3rd of all players in clean breaks. Team won the tournament. Individually, won his second John Eales Medal for Wallabies Player of the Year, the first player in history to win consecutive medals. 2.5 years playing the sport.

Teams do receive points for beating teams below them, but only if they're within a certain number of points. For NZ in the last few seasons, this has meant they might only get points off a couple of teams and when playing at home only minimally.

Yeah well all well and good last week.... Ability.....Well they paid the price for fielding a team carrying injuries. Form.....what form?It was clear to me some players were down on form, especially fitness. Stats.......yes you can take your statistics and bend them any which way you want.I think stats are just that !

Kane I'm surprised that the ABs and Hansen, get any points at all.....when you're consistently No1 for that period of time, to even think you would earn points is unbelievable because, the objective of all their opponents, is to knock 'em over thus culminating with, the side losing points. Surprised because, I understood that teams got points for defeating teams ranked above but I didn't realise, you also received points for defeating teams, ranked below. There you go - I learned something with this ranking points system....cheers.

Horwitz will be back up for Foley at Tahs and a darn good one too. Kellaway, Harry Jones be chances to break in to the team perhaps as there does seem to be some holes in the outside backs

When have you seen less given red?

It was arguably a red, in the same way that anyone can argue anything they want despite it not being remotely accurate.

Scotland were robbed. Australia shouldn't have even made it to the final. That's the elephant in the room right?

poor old Izzy was clearly injured, low on confidence, and easily contained in the final. But how was the Nonu try created. Look at the tape, SBW runs around Hooper, who is left snatching at air, and then offloads to Nonu. Tackles missed lose matches.

Probably a throwback from the 'Guy' who say's Pocock is the best player in the world. Now I hope......waiting with bated breath ,running out of breath, turning blue....the experts who predicted a massacre by Aussie Backrow Trio quit making stupid statements based on mostly Media hype, or last weeks game or some thing akin to mass........well you get it!

No one cares if you rate him champ, his performances speak for themselves. He'd walk into your team.

The Ma'a Nonu one looked more dangerous as he was driven into the ground but that just went down as a turnover.

I know people say not to cite Wikipedia, but this list seems much more current than the Tahs site and backed by media announcements. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_2015%E2%80%9316_Super_Rugby_transfers#Waratahs TPN staying, Taqele gone, apparently no decision on a couple of players from last year like Lousi, Carraro and Hoiles.
