Taylor says Farah to stay, play at Tigers

By News / Wire

Rugby league’s most fractured relationship is “75 to 80 per cent” sorted, with Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor confirming Robbie Farah will remain at the club in 2016.

Farah will also have the next three-and-a-half months to prove his worth, with Taylor stating he will determine the hooker’s first-grade future based on his training performances.

“The facts are that Robbie will be considered for a position in the team every week and there is no reason that he won’t be the starting hooker in round one,” Taylor said on on Wednesday evening on radio 2UE’s Sports Today program.

“We’ve signed Matt Ballin, Matt Ballin has a knee injury and so, if Matt’s not right to play in round one, then Robbie could be, and even if Matt is right, Robbie Farah could be our starting hooker in round one.

“Every player in the club is going to be given the opportunity to show they deserve their starting spot, whoever it is.”

Farah was granted permission to look elsewhere in August and following a very public spat, it emerged the NSW State of Origin hooker could be forced to play reserve grade if he remained at the club.

However, Taylor now says the situation has almost entirely resolved itself as the Tigers’ pre-season continued through its third week.

“Robbie’s decided that he is going to remain with the club and I’m comfortable with that and we move forward.

“We’ve been working pretty closely over the past couple of weeks. A lot has been said in the past but the point is Robbie will stay on board this year and I will coach Robbie well and we’ll work together well.

“Robbie and I have had some good discussions and we will continue to do that. I’m not saying that it’s sorted out 100 per cent. I’m saying that it’s sorted out 75 to 80 per cent and we’ll keep working together,” Taylor said.

Taylor is hopeless. He coached to hit up for 5 tackles and then an inneffectual bomb. Tactics were so bad even the players didn't chase the ball. Embarrassing stuff. They got rid of Payton who they should bring back to replace Taylor. Take a chance on a younger coach without baggage eg TAYLOR , CLEARY! Hopefully Harry will buy the club and get rid of the rubbish board as well.

Brooks & Moses standing up to Farah is all well and good but for the fact he plays dummy half. They can yell & scream as much as they like for the ball but if the Farah has other ideas like throwing a dummy and barging over the tryline or throwing a dummy and barging over the tryline or throwing a dummy and barging over the tryline or throwing a dummy and barging over the tryline or throwing a dummy and barging over the tryline there's nothing Brooks & Moses can do about it.

Crap board and a divisive player with too much influence isn't really a recipe for success. Tiges fans don't have too much to look forward to in the immediate future.

Simple fact is that when Rob plays, we win more then we lose. And when Rob plays origin or is injured we lose waaaay more then we win. Last three seasons we have arrived at Origin in half decent shape and then Rob being out and other players injured have killed us. He is supposedly a bad influence in the dressing room. I have no doubt that he would be a challenging factor for young players but if Moses, Brooks etc can't stand up to him then getting rid of him is an extreme reaction. It would be odd to sack a player because he cares so much about the team that he can't handle losing. I would say that they know what they are doing, but that would be an obvious lie.

A simplistic look would suggest that a common theme would be Farah and the board over that time period.

It's interesting and to me tell taling that the authentic Tiger supporters are behind Farah..I agree with them..the number and quality of players that have been moved on the last 4 years is boggling..on the table it's been 13 th,15 th and 15 th...16 th next season and goodbye to Teddy..

Sheens was there about 5 years too long, Potter's contract was over and he was not resigned and Taylor just keeps shooting himself in the foot, not sure if you are aware KC but we came equal last under Taylor this season and he was trying to get rid of the best player. Please name one thing Farrah has done to undermine anyone? He has been the clubs captain for quiet a while, or course he will have some influence, do you not think other captains don't? The club ethos is " Unite, Commit, Achieve" nothing Taylor has done to date has come close to that, from what I can see. Taylor is now backtracking on his previous statements which suggests that the club is not supporting him all that much.

Simple. Farah has a contract with the club and they should honour it instead of blowing their trumpet and hoping that they'd embarrass Farah into leaving with his tail between his legs.
