WATCH: James O'Connor snags double in Top 14 win

By The Roar / Editor

Former Wallaby James O’Connor has helped Toulon secure a 21-17 win over Pau in the Top 14, scoring two tries.

O’Connor’s first was assisted by fellow Australian Quade Cooper, with his second coming after finding space by himself on the wing midway through the second half.

The 25-year-old also had a hand in Toulon’s other try, with an offload setting up Konstantin Mikautadze.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Toulon, however, who had to endure a late fightback inspired by All Blacks Conrad Smith and Colin Slade.

Toulon currently sits fourth on the Top 14 ladder, just two points off the pace of the log-jam top three.

They can spend this money because they own their own stadiums (which sell out), they benefit from extensive TV Deals and have owners who genuinely love their local club (Not plastic Franchise).

There were 3 cards for the match in fact as an opposition player was also carded. The point of my question was to identify if he committed a yellow card offence, or whether he was yellow carded for repeated team infringements, or perhaps it was a professional foul similar to the Will Genia YC at the RWC with the team under pressure. Any of these factors make a difference in judging it. If it was a YC for a high tackle, that's very concerning for example. If it's a YC for offside after a team warning, less so.

Pathetically predictable as these comments demonstrate. 'Even I could score those tries'. Delusional and smug, must be how it progresses. Stay tuned for more.

Cooper was carded at 35 mins, another Toulon player- Etrillard? was carded at 70 mins. Cant see what it was for though.

So if Cooper and O'Conner are considered to be " great players" , the players you just mentioned must be "LEGENDS"

Still, For any club to afford even the few names you've listed must have some wallet. How does a club the size of Toulon actually make its profits? I mean Vermulens, Halfpenny, Nonu, Habana are arguably the top 2 or 3 performers for their test sides. It just sounds too good to be true, like the gravy train cant go on forever.

QC supporters guide. If QC has an absolute shocker. 1) Blame the coach for not picking him more. 2) Blame the forwards. 3) Blame the halfback. 4) Just say he was actually quite good. 5) Attack his comp for the position. 6) All of the above. Note: In the case of QC having a shocker off the bench, pretend that it only counts if he starts the game.

As far as I know Giteau is the highest paid but Nonu could be now and POC would ask a bit along with Vermeulen, S.Armitage, B.Habana and L.Halfpenny. I would think most, if not all, of those players would get more than Cooper or JOC.

QCs pass was great, fantastic. However, it was 0.5 secs of 80 mins...oh sorry, in QCs case it was 70 mins because he was yellow carded AGAIN. So QC showed us what QC does and why he struggles to get regular time as a starter for his new club and country, rocks and diamonds. Any idea what QC is getting?

Does anybody know how much these two "great players " are getting for playing for Toulon. Isn't Gits the highest paid player playing there?

Sorry ZG, you appear disillusioned, both gents are accomplished performers but great, no. OZ has a number of great players and only a brave man would place these two within their ranks. Great players in any code are normally the complete package but both these folk created more headlines off the paddock than on. They have some of the abilities yes but all the machinery, no.

To be fair all he had to do was to catch the ball and cross the try line to score the tries. Nothing special.
