Roosters stand down disgraced captain Mitchell Pearce

By The Roar / Editor

The Sydney Roosters have officially stood down their club captain Mitchell Peace, after footage emerged of him simulating a sex act with a dog during a drunken Australia Day night out.

“The club wishes to advise that Mitchell Pearce has been stood down from training commitments until the club concludes its internal investigation,” the press realease reads.

“The club continues to work closely with the NRL Integrity Unit and will be making no further comment at this time.”

Pearce was filmed by a fellow party-goer with his shirt off, trying to kiss a woman who spurned his advances, before he picked up the host’s Maltese terrier and performed the lewd act.

The host is then seen taking the dog from Pearce, saying, “No. No, no, off limits.

“I wanna f*** a dog, I don’t even care anymore,” Pearce responds.

“I care. You’ve peed on my couch, you’ve peed on yourself,” the host replies. “Get the f*** out.”

Pearce is the son of rugby league legend and NRL Commissioner Wayne Pearce.

Besides the obvious ramblings of the mad monk, which aspects of Australian domestic politics should I be most concerned with? Assumptions can be a dangerous thing to make Sam, I have taken my oath. Normally try to avoid the grammar bit picking, but based on a later reply I think you might want to brush up on some of the finer points.

Perhaps they cleverly edited out the bits where they forced him to come up, forced him to continue drinking, forced him to pee on the couch, forced the dog on him - perhaps I missed all that by someone clearly very media savvy and obviously skilled in making a video designed for ACA.

So a man can force himself on a woman who has clearly said no, but it's not sexual assault unless she gets hurt? She doesn't need to be hurt for it to be wrong!

sexual assault- gees that will do me for starters - didnt hurt the female or the dog so wtf is really the issue- RSPCA investigating?? - investigating what?- channel 9 really p'ees me off every piece of dirt they can get on league/cricket they will air it and kick the guts out of the sports they are supposed to be promoting having the FTA rights to both.

Yep, we'll have to disagree on this one Epi. All in all, the video appears to show a distinct lack of RSA being enforced across multiple parties throughout the day. And quite frankly the video should never have been made public. I certainly would have got more work done today, if I hadn't seen it!

"“You do know the captions come up before they speak.” Sorry, I don’t know what you are getting at with this." He's saying that when he listens to it he hears her say no after she is kissed not before but the caption comes up before hand.

Agree WDD, it wasn't just poor ethics it was more commercial judgment. Pearce will lose more than 60k, he definitely could have beaten that price.

I can't tell if this is a joke or the single dumbest comment I have ever read on this site (and it's a big field).

ACA is entertainment, not news. They cover dodgy builders, neighborhood feuds and the new fad diets. They don't exist to cover world affairs

Well I guess we will have to disagree on this. Where you see a smile, I see a grimace. I would also argue that maybe she didn't kick him out after the kissing incident because she was scared of how everyone would react. I'm only speculating of course but there is a definite power imbalance there.

"You do know the captions come up before they speak." Sorry, I don't know what you are getting at with this. Look, I'm not saying Pearce should be rubbed out for life or that he belongs in prison or anything like that. But part of the problem that women are experiencing in the world today is that they can't just say "no" and have it end there. Obviously, he could have done a lot worse, but the fact that he still kissed her after she said no is a really, really, really bad look and I think he should be held accountable for this if nothing else. You only have to read all the stories about women who have to pretend they are gay, pretend they have boyfriends, and make up all sorts of stories because a simple no isn't good enough when it absolutely should be.

ACA and co ,,,, the media seems to lap this up while ignoring things of more significance ... Is my point .
