The most important match of the season thus far sees Manchester City host Leicester City in a game that could decide which team goes on to win the Premier League title. Join The Roar for live scores from 11:45pm AEDT.
There are still 12 matches left to play after tonight’s contest but you can rest assured that both Manchester and Leicester City will be treating this contest as a potential grand final.
With Leicester three points ahead of today’s rivals, Manchester simply must win to draw level with the Premier League surprise packets.
A loss this afternoon at home against Leicester would be a cruel blow for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, given that they would sit six points behind a team that doesn’t look like relinquishing its position any time soon.
Indeed Leicester’s remarkable Premier League campaign is similar to Atletico Madrid’s 2013-14 campaign in La Liga. With Barcelona needing only a win to secure the title, Atletico still possessed the nerve, discipline and structure to secure a 1-1 draw on the last match day of the season to secure the domestic title.
Judging by their recent wins over tough opposition such as Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC, Leicester City are the real deal this season and it’s going to take a complete performance from Manchester tonight to take them down.
With that said, Manchester do start warm favourites given that they are at home. Another key factor in City’s favour today is the improving form of their best player Sergio Aguero.
Aguero has once again had an injury-interrupted campaign but he is now back to full fitness and is beginning to find the back of the net consistently. Leicester will no doubt have him at the forefront of their minds when it comes to players that they must stop if they are to come away with a positive result.
Speaking of in-form strikers, Jamie Vardy is coming off a sensational performance against Liverpool, scoring one of the goals of the season, and Manchester will once again be hurt on the scoreboard if City’s back four are not alert to his movement off the ball.
Despite starting favourites today, Manchester must show Leicester respect and play the percentages well against a team that has done exactly that all season. With Aguero back in good form, City have what it takes to secure a vital win that will kickstart their run towards another Premier League title.

Very wet conditions, City have the better of the stats, except on the scoreboard, at the moment Leceister relying very much on doing plenty of running to cover space, cut down the angles and counter-attack - a very tiring game plan under the present conditions, already late in first half it's showing.

Leceister very lucky then, gave away the foul right on the line of the box, maybe inside, but only given as a free kick outside of the box.

They just showed a replay of the goal, it was credited to Huth, but it took a massive deflection off the defender. All credit to Huth, he got his massive frame in front and was always going to be first to the ball, but had to rely on his feet, at least he connected!
