Canterbury's Michael Lichaa to miss a month

By News / Wire

Canterbury hooker Michael Lichaa will miss four NRL matches with a knee injury.

The Bulldogs rake suffered the setback in Friday night’s win over Manly, and will require an arthroscope to clean out the minimal damage sustained before he limped off midway through the second half.

The month-long layoff will come as a relief to the 22-year-old who was facing the prospect of a season-ending injury.

It would have been a bitter blow for the former Cronulla No.9, who was returning from major ankle surgery last August.

At that time he was replaced by back-up dummy-half Damien Cook, however he was released to South Sydney during the off-season after impressing during the finals series.

The Bulldogs have named former St George Illawarra No.9 Craig Garvey in Lichaa’s place for Thursday night’s match against Penrith.

Thanks Jack. Nikorima is my back up hooker so I probably could have ridden the four weeks out but I just couldn't face having 330k of talent on the injured list. I've moved Carter to 9 and brought in a back rower. I also had Chanel in my team so I've burned two trades after one round. Ouch!

Depends who your back up is in my opinion I had to because my back up isnt the strongest put my money else where. But if you can do without him for 3 weeks save the trade I reckon.

First time I've been excited for an injury update, this should lift the boys tonight, and hopefully puts a fire in Garvey to try and keep his spot, no matter how unlikely it will be.

Recover well Michael, 4 is better than 6. Back to meet the Storm on April 11th. Good luck to Craig in the interim. Team spirit is a wonderful thing. Still tingling from last Friday nights exhibition.
