Match preview:

The Collingwood Magpies are hoping to play spoiler as the season winds down, and they’ll have a chance to trip up the West Coast Eagles at the MCG. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4:35pm (AEST).

Collingwood may be out of the finals race, but they continue to play competitive football as their disappointing season draws to a close.

Last week the margin may have blown out to 40 points late, but the Magpies drove North Melbourne all the way less than a week after giving the Crows a fright in Adelaide.

They’ll fancy their chances against Richmond and Gold Coast in their last four games, but they should get up for this enormous opportunity to throw a spanner in West Coast’s works.

West Coast on the other hand have a finals spot wrapped up, although they’ve squandered two opportunities to boost their percentage in this extremely tight top four race.

After a wobbly seven-point win over Carlton two weeks ago, the Eagles did everything they possibly could to lose to Melbourne at home last week, somehow emerging from the rubble with a six-point win.

With GWS, Hawthorn and Adelaide in the last three weeks, West Coast need to hit good form now.

West Coast are one of just three teams to hold a lifetime winning percentage against Collingwood, with a slender 24-22-1 advantage in their all-time head-to-head.

The Pies however have won the last nine contests between these sides at the MCG. The Eagles have not triumphed over Collingwood at the home of football since 1995.

Prediction
Neither side has much reason to feel comfortable coming into this clash. West Coast have the ladder position, although arguably Collingwood have the form.

This match could go either way, but with a bit more to play for I’m picking the Eagles – just.

Eagles by 4 points.

BEHIND MAGPIES Travis Cloke marks in the centre square, and then gets a 50-metre penalty after his opponents fail to clear the protected area. That brings him to 25 metres out, directly in front, to put the icing on the... ..he missed. COL - 13.13 (91) WCE - 11.6 (72) Q4: 2'

GOAL MAGPIES Game Over. Poor kick in from West Coast is straight to a Collingwood opponent, and his kick inside 50 is marked by Steele Sidebottom on his own. Kicking from 25 out on a moderate angle, he slots it and it's party time now for the 'Pies. COL - 13.12 (90) WCE - 11.6 (72) Q4: 2'
