West Coast Eagles

You two should hook up and get married….

Have the West Coast Eagles been figured out?

The side looks unbalanced at the moment with the 3 talls in the F50. Riolii should correct that when he returns. Barass is a big out for the next 7-10 weeks and Schofield is not up to it. He was great in the GF last year, but only ever seems to put a good game together in big games. During the home & away games he looks out of his depth and gives away too many free kicks.
JK is obviously unfit not having a full pre-season, and the clock has struck midnight for JD and he has turned back into a spud.

Have the West Coast Eagles been figured out?

We’ve heard it all before. The question is, when will they get ti right….winter is coming. They need to go back to two umpires IMO which will mitigate the confusion by a third. And all this rubbish about changing attitudes towards umpires. C’mon, going to the footy and abusing umpires is part of the game. If we want the umpiring to improve the AFL have to recruit a squad of full-time umpires that umpire the AFL and VFL/WAFL/SANFL/NEAFL games. If they umpire an AFL game they get paid at a higher rate. If they umpire a local league match they get paid a lesser rate. Umpires are dropped and promoted based upon their performance in each game. The standard of umpiring is getting worse and something needs to be done about it.

AFL want attitude change towards umpires

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Rotham come back in for Schofield and Brooksby for Vardy. Doubt the WCE can come away with a W.

AFL top 100: Round 6 preview

We all know the WCE are better than that and sometimes oppo sides make good teams play poorly. Freo’s skills are woeful if you ask me. I think it is time that the AFL makes umpiring a full time job. Can’t believe the free kick awarded to Ben Brown last night. Grundy, and most other rucks for that matter, does that all the time and he never gets pinged for it.

'No easy fix' for timid Crows' issues

And that is the $64 question.
When is he going to be on song.
Only goes for a quarter here and a quarter there.
Sheppard shut him down big time on the weekend after Q1.
I would rather Rioli and Ryan in my side than De Goey.
He is over rated IMO.

Eight talking points from AFL Round 3

Gaff had 13 CPs. The most from any Collingwood midfielder was 10. Gaff went at 74% eff. The Collingwood midfield went at about 65%. Give him a couple of games to blow the cobwebs out and lets see how he is going then.

AFL team of the week: Round 3

Apparently Crippa is the first one picked in the side each week.

The Eagles have the flag at their mercy

There was only a kick in it because the WCE squandered so many chances in the final quarter it wasn’t funny. Even PtS acknowledged that last year after the game when he said it felt like it was only a matter of time before the dam wall broke and the WCE hit the lead. To come from 30 points down in the first quarter and win by what should have been 2 or 3 goals clearly shows that the WCE were the dominant side on the day for 3 quarters of football. Even in the first quarter the WCE had the better of the Pies in some leading stats.

The Eagles have the flag at their mercy

Hey Pete, the WCE thrashed Richmond by 47 pts last year and won the GF. Who was the better side last year?
The Pies structure was a mess on Saturday night. Gee, I wonder why. Could it have anything to do with the oppo?
Why is that the WCE can win in Melbourne, yet interstate sides can’t win against the WCE at OS?
Agree that Geelong will be a big test, but if WCE pull that one off then the double chance will look like its in the bag and the odds on back-to-back will shorten to near on even money.

The Eagles have the flag at their mercy

Agree about the defense. Cole did a job on Elliott. Rotham looked composed for a first gamer. A replacement in waiting for when Duggan shifts to a wing or the midfield rotation. Shep was fantastic on De Goey after Q1. I still reckon Petruccelli is more suited to the back half. With that pace he could break lines and he can deliver the ball lace out to our forwards. Rioli will be a star and could be better than Cyril eventually. Every time he attends the CBD we usually win the clearance. As his tank gets better expect him to spend more time at the midfield.

Eight talking points from AFL Round 3

C’mon Pete, do your research.
Yeo was 2nd in tackles last year averaging 6.7 per game.
He is down on that average this year at 3.0 per game, but the season is only 3 games old.

Eight talking points from AFL Round 3

I agree. Our midfield isn’t firing on all cylinders yet. Yeo and Redden have been below par. Three games doesn’t make a season. Still a long way to go.

Eight talking points from AFL Round 3

Can’t see WCE beating GWS by 40pts, in fact it could be the other way. I’m tipping GWS to get the chocolates. The WCE back line looked lost at sea last week. The Gov…..there is still something wrong with his body I reckon. Doesn’t look fit and isn’t really committing himself to the contest like he did last year. The GWS midfielders will run our boys ragged. Too much speed. We might have a chance if we can get on top in the ruck, but after Vardy’s and Hickey’s performance last week I am not optimistic. Oh, and Brander will be a star in a year or two. Give the kid who is only 19 a break. He has got all the skills, the height and the tank to play anywhere on the field. If WCE lose this one, they will probably be 0 and 3 after the Collingwood game, whom I expect will take revenge on us.

2019 AFL season: Round 2 preview

Where is Don Freo?
Thought he would be on hear crowing about Freo’s win.
The way WCE played against BL Freo will probably pants us in R4!
The Gov looked anemic and Tom “that’s why we are such good players” Barrass was spoiling all his teammates intercept marks.
I think they need to get some speed of the half back and put Petruccelli back their, or get him to play a defensive wing.
Masto looks to have come off his from from last year.
It will be good to get Gaffy back.
I think the WCE have their backs against the wall for the next 3 rounds.
They better win on Saturday night or they can forget their chance at bak-to-back, and maybe even making the eight.

Eight talking points from AFL Round 1

Pretty poor effort by the WCE after QT. I think the BL gave us some of our own medicine using the Weagles Web. We couldn’t switch the ball at all after QT. Plus we didn’t have any wings to transition through. Masto was missing all night and Brander is too young. The rucks got easily beaten and Hickey doesn’t look like he is the answer at R2. Lots of upsets to start the season. Looks like a really even comp. WCE have their backs up against the wall with GWS and COL coming up. Could be 1 and 3 after 4 rounds and that would make it very difficult to make the eight.

Lions dare to dream against AFL premiers

Something you do all the time, hey Don!

Who won the AFL trade period? Believe it or not, Cam McCarthy

Again!, more rubbish from the garbage man! Taberner was drafted in 2013. It has taken him 5 years to show that he can play the game.

Who won the AFL trade period? Believe it or not, Cam McCarthy

Wow, brilliant. Couldn’t have said it better myself. The guy is a Walter Mitty. Now he is trying to cast aspersions on WCE as if they are a fractured club. The brown stuff just keeps on spewing from his month on a post by post basis. He must wake up at night in a cold sweat embarrassed that he actually posted his cr*p.

The Giants aren't done, Peter Bell is a golden god and other observations from this year's trade period

Seems Geelong are buckling re the Kelly trade. They will end up accepting 20 and 22 no doubt.

AFL Trade Wrap Day 8: Tom Scully, Steven May, Tim Kelly and more

Absolutely, good ol’ Gill really can’t afford another embarrassment.

AFL Trade Wrap Day 8: Tom Scully, Steven May, Tim Kelly and more

Ol’ Don Freo is a Walter Mitty…….

AFL Trade Wrap Day 8: Tom Scully, Steven May, Tim Kelly and more

Oh, and can you tell the difference between an argument and a statement of fact? Just in case, that’s a rhetorical question…..LOL

AFL Trade Wrap Day 6: Jesse Hogan, Tom Scully, Ryan Burton and more

LOL

AFL Trade Wrap Day 6: Jesse Hogan, Tom Scully, Ryan Burton and more

So what difference does that make. If Neale was happy at Freo he would be staying. But he’s not, and that is why he is going. It is what it is Don. He is a dime amongst a dozen, but the only dime that is willing to go to Brisbane. You are just digging a real deep hole for yourself defending Freo Don. A hole which you won’t be able to climb out of from embarrassment when it all goes pear shape and you are proved wrong.
