Andrew McCullogh fit for big clash against Roosters

By News / Wire

Brisbane’s Andrew McCullough has been declared fit for the Broncos’ NRL clash with the Sydney Roosters on Thursday.

However, it wasn’t all good news for Brisbane on Wednesday, with bench utility Kodi Nikorima and centre Jack Reed both ruled out for the season.

Nikorima provided great impact for the Broncos out of dummy-half earlier this season, but has not played since round 17 against Melbourne and coach Wayne Bennett has now confirmed his season is over.

The 22-year-old was hit with an apparent Nelson Asofa-Solomona shoulder charge on the fulltime siren, dislocating the shoulder, however he was not charged.

Meanwhile Reed’s shoulder has also proven problematic, and there are now fears he may have played his last NRL match after missing the past three months of football.

Reed is contracted until the end of next year, however there have been reports in the past month that the injury-stricken centre is considering applying for a medical retirement.

There were fears McCullough could also be missing for the Broncos’ key clash with the Sydney Roosters on Thursday night, after he missed training on Monday with an ankle problem.

However he was back with the team on Wednesday morning and has been given the all-clear by Broncos’ medical staff.

Bennett also confirmed fifth-placed Brisbane will take the same 17 players he named on Tuesday into the clash at Suncorp Stadium.

The more you think about it the more people you can think of really. Cowboys, Bulldogs, Titans, Panthers, Storm, Nulla and potentially Tigers fans would all be interested in some way I'd assume given that Brisbane winning or losing could affect their teams campaigns on who or where they're playing that opening finals match. The only side in the top 8 who aren't really affected in any way are the Raiders.

SuperCoach players? Anyone watching the footy this weekend? Strange comment...it's not like the contents would have been a surprise from the headline.

Not concerned about Reed but it's a shame about Nikorima.
