Foran saga taking a toll

By Norris Woodbine / Roar Pro

Judging by social media, the ongoing saga surrounding Kieran Foran and his contract negotiations are beginning to take a toll on New Zealand Warriors supporters.

Not a day dawns without an article in one publication or another having touted a theory about his future, his family dynamics, his personal demons, his relationship with the Warriors and halves partner Shaun Johnson – and of course his contract negotiations.

In the past ten days, he has been linked to nearly every club appearing to have a need of a five-eighth and even some who don’t currently have a need, but would sign him and sack their incumbent.

The Bulldogs remain front runners, the Broncos were prominent, the Knights have met with him, the Storm have denied interest but are now back as favourites because he is travelling there this week with the Warriors who are playing in Melbourne on Anzac day.

At no stage have any reports quoted Foran himself and there is no mention of a contract with his current club, The Warriors.

Last week he employed a manager and Mr Ayoub immediately stated that no discussions have taken place regarding Foran’s future.

This has not stopped the rumour and innuendo filtering out.

Some Warriors supporters are of the belief that the Sydney media have ‘it in’ for their club and have nothing better to do than destabilise their team. One journalist in particular has earned the ire of many.

Some supporters are beginning to turn upon the management of the Warriors for allowing this set of circumstances while others are even beginning to openly question Foran’s loyalty and moral fibre.

I am sure Foran himself is not buying into any of this hype and is just quietly going about his business of working with the Warriors and getting his personal life sorted.

However, for the good of their club and their followers the team in charge at the Warriors need to make the necessary calls in regard to their playing roster without too much delay.

Warriors fans are always on a roller coaster and this ongoing saga is just adding to their mental anguish on a day to day basis.

The Warriors were always a stop gap. Get him back into the NRL, away from the Sydney spotlight. And bad influences. He wants to be close to his 2 kids. That's why I was surprised the Storm came up in conversation.

Jacko isn't known for his rational thinking. On both the union and league threads.

A 22 year old bad decision as evidence that there's a vendetta against the Warriors ? You've got to be kidding ...

I guess he hasn't got a contract for 2018 yet maybe because clubs wanted to see if he was ok and still had the goods. Why haven't the Warriors got him? They would have observed prior to xmas that he was ok and ready. Or doesn't he want to stay away from his kids? Anyone know these answers?

perhaps the article should have stated the obsession that the media has with Foran rather than Foran looking for a new contract to play footy...Which is what he does...And he has no contract to play footy for next year...Its just unfair that he is looking for a contract to play next year as , lets face it, he is 26 already...

Albo Im still waiting for the even-up. The NRL want NZ in the comp so they can plunder the players but dont actually want them to be successful. Dont believe me ? Check out the very first match v the Bronco's. Way back in 1995. Bronco's win with try at end of game....Linesman looking straight at winger step on line before scoring winning try...Nothing called...and it has continued ever since...

But Cedric that is the luck & / or poor officialdom decisions which still dominate most matches. You just hope that it really is "swings & roundabouts" and your team gets the rub of the green equally over time. Last week a bit of bad luck ( RTS held up over the line) and an awful refereeing error ( the Hodgson try) saw a 12 point turnaround either side of halftime which determined the Warriors night was over, with the Raiders rolling on to comfortable victory. Next week the Warriors might get the good breaks ?

Its trying to destabilize them before the Storm game. Eddie McGuire who has links to the Storm tried the same last year with trying to lure De Jong (filmed mid season visiting secretly Magpies training facilities? from the Bulldogs to Collingwood last year but God stepped in and smote Eddie down with the Bulldogs winning the premiership. Hopefully history will repeat. But seriously 4 clubs in 4 years Kieran??

I think the Warriors have more problems with the refs, in particular after last Saturday nights fiasco. Wonder what Foran thought after that beating, maybe, I can't win a premiership here. Brings back memories of last years game to make the 8 against the NRL Titans, well really it was the Tigers, but if we beat them the Titans wouldn't make the 8. Remember the tries dissallowed etc etc....... quite similar. Saturday night after 40mins Warriors had 67% possession, after 80 minutes had 46%. 82 sets total for both teams. If there were 45 sets in 1st 40, then they had 30 sets ( not nessecarily completed ) so in the 2nd 40 Warriors had 6 sets. 5 penalties against them in the 2nd 40 - zero against Raiders. I could keep going but it was soooo home town advantage if you missed it you were asleep!
