Program harmed my daughter: former Bomber

By News / Wire

Former Essendon star Nathan Lovett-Murray fears injections he received during the Bombers’ infamous supplements program have harmed his daughter, News Corp reports.

Lovett-Murray says his three-year-old daughter, who was conceived about a year after the supplements program stopped, has a mysterious growth on her chest as well as behavioural issues.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that the injection program we were put through has had some impact on my daughter,” the 34-year-old, one of 34 Essendon players to cop a two-year-doping ban, told News Corp.

“It’s something I think about every day.”

Hard to say what has happened from the outside. He may well believe that his daughter's issues are related to supplements but good luck proving it. If he's ever used a microwave in any way other than directed you can believe Essendon's lawyers will be all over him. I'm a bit iffy about the term 'settled' - how on earth would Essendon know what is settled when they don't even know what these players were injected with? They have no idea if there will be further long-term consequences or issues arising from this.

Essendon released a statement in response to Lovett-Murray’s complaints, claiming they offered support to the former star. “After Nathan’s management raised concerns with regard to this matter (Harmony’s health) in the first half of 2016, the club offered its support on various occasions. The club has not heard anything further from Nathan or his management on this matter for almost a year now, but remains committed to supporting him in any way possible. “Nathan’s claim is being dealt with in an identical framework and process to that of the other 33 players … the club has now settled 31 of these claims and is making every attempt to bring all claims to a conclusion in a timely and appropriate manner.” Refer (but presumably you have to be a subscriber): http://www.news.com.au/sport/sports-life/nathan-lovettmurray-preparing-to-sue-over-essendon-supplement-scandal/news-story/1a653b6a7f325f4fbb29e902859acb93

For the moment, let just relax. As I understand it NOTHING has been proven yet as to whether the "program" is responsible for this childs' affliction. Having stated that, I am not surprised that these sort of issues were going to be raised at some point in the future. This only one "case" at the moment, obviously if quite a number of the 34 players come forward with issues then the Essendon Football Club and maybe the AFL will have some serious questions put to thee. Ah yes, anybody who thought this was over when the players served their ban was clearly in La La Land, and I don.t mean the movie.

I did, and I'm sure he's busy shredding his Bing Crosby as well as Alvin & the Chipmunks records as I write.

If they've still got their heads in the sand they will have them reefed out sooner or later. Essendon don't have the foggiest idea what these players got shot full of.

Surely there is nothing to worry about. Haven't we been told for years by Essendon that nothing harmful or illegal was injected into their players.

The lawyers are circling. As for Essendon's duty of care, I reckon they have all their fingers and toes crossed.....

This will drag on for decades. Every time one of these players so much as takes a dump that looks a bit odd they’re going to blame the supplements program. Does anyone know if Essendon has provided for ongoing monitoring of these players & any children conceived since the program ended?
