TELL US: What's the worst part about being a Blues fan?

By Riordan Lee / Editor

I’ve spent the overwhelming majority of my adult life watching New South Wales lose games of football.

Every year, almost without fail, they find creative new ways to break your heart.

Throwing away insurmountable leads, making stirring comebacks but falling agonisingly short, humiliating whitewashes – you name it, we’ve done it.

Last night yet again delivered a novel form of self-destruction – getting to within a solitary try of a series victory and then spectacularly throwing it all away.

So in the wake of another soul-crushing but probably entirely predictable defeat, we’re left picking up the pieces and negotiating that familiar Thursday morning depression that only Blues fans truly understand.

On Roar LIVE tonight, a panel of New South Welshmen (including resident Roar court jester Dane Eldridge) are going to dissect the game and wallow in our collective misery.

But as always we’d love to hear from you as well. So tell us: what’s the worst part of being a NSW fan?

Is it the selectors? Is it the lingering hope? The…referees?

Let us know in the comments what makes you angry and what kills you inside, or if you’re a Queenslander feel free to gloat and throw banter barbs our way. We’ll try to get to as many comments and statements as we can on the show.

Roar Live will be streamed this afternoon at around 5:00pm on The Roar’s Facebook page. It will also be available as a podcast on Soundcloud and iTunes.

The worst thing is the selection, particularly regarding leadership. Why do we have to pick super-stars and game-breakers when all we need are disciplined guys who can do their job well and a handful of guys in key positions to lead them, to make the right tactical decisions and without giving away stupid penalties. I could hack the torment if that was the case, but Qld capitalise on all our deficiencies...and there's the same ones so frequently that it doesn't seem like a fair contest with Qld having 3 psychologists out there these past 12yrs.

That's too easy. Not being able to support QLD. Everyone would if their birthplace wasn't against them..........

Yes I do, I was responding to Sages revelation that Sterling was born in Toowoomba.

Peter I think you are 100% correct about the mob down south not getting origin. I don't believe they have the same sense of hatred that the Qld boys have, they actually think Slater, Smith, & Thurston are still their mates, study the facial expressions on the Queenslanders when they score etc compared to the blues. I think Gallen had the right attitude but the powers that be stopped his gallop pretty quickly, and half the mob in NSW endorsed the changes to the rules in fact the main motivator for the changes was a NSW headmaster, wouldn't happen in QLD.

I live in Queensland, my neighbour reads the Telegraph and passes it on to me the day after so the morning after the SO I was reading the Telegraph 2 page preview, it made good reading with 10 columnists predictions where not one even thought Queensland could win. Backed up with two articals from Andrew Johns and Steve Roach backing them up,\. No wonder a NSW fan would be dissapointed when they are brainwashed by all the 'experts' who didn't give Queensland any chance. By the way a game doesn't finish atfter 40 minutes, it goes for 80!!

They'll be waiting for him outside at Wally Lewis's statue. Will he bring his own shield or will he have to just settle for the picture with Wally's?

As a Queensland supporter I'd be more than happy for Boyd Cordner not play origin. He runs great lines, his effort is brilliant and he plays 80 minutes. What more do you want in an edge forward?

And plenty of no calls both ways and the passes weren't a metre forward but some probably marginally forward

If NSW stick with proven failure Mitchell Pearce for game 3 then goodbye 2017. He simply falls short at origin level. Andrew Johns can spend as much time mentoring him on and off the training paddock but there are certain qualities you cant teach someone. You either have it or you don't. In game 1 NSW weren't quite home and when Pearce went off they scored 3 tries in 15 minutes. In game 2 Pearce had an opportunity in the last 20 minutes to take control and close out the game but instead went to jelly. So after 17 appearances and not 1 origin series win Mitchell Pearce will run out in front of 50,000 QLD supporters and steer NSW to victory? NO.

They'll get a chance but his replacement is not going to make Queensland easy beats. Friend and Granville are both very good, very smart players.

It's as much a physiological thing as anything else. As Steve Waugh said he used what he called mental degradation to psych out the opposition. Smith and co have been doing it to NSW for years.

I actually agreed with Paul Kent for once when he pointed out when PHIL Rothfield was having a tanty on NRL360 last night about all the calls that were supposedly going QLD's way, that Slater had been taken out off the ball and NSW hadn't been penalised. There were plenty of 50/50 calls that didn't go QLD's way, especially in the first half

Finished 2nd and 4th last two years running, and 6 premiership titles witnessed in your lifetime. NSW are filling the comp with their mediocre teams, just like the Aus conference in Union. Get a life, you sore loser who gets off at belittling champion players/clubs.
